1D Mark III color cast issues?

I've noticed no such thing.

hundreds of different and bizzare lighting conditions, and with whitebalance knowledge they all come out great.

color's such a complex topic, and no mechanical system in the world will ever get it "right" all the time with regard to how we would've seen it while there.

Color control ultimately lies in your own hands, and blaming your equipment is a weak cop out for those who want it easy and automatic. The brain will always be superior in this regard.

MkIII makes it super easy to custom white balance, it's kelvin scale is pretty darn accurate, and it's auto and pre-sets are dang near spot on.

But like I said, tweaking will always be necessary and the PURISTS with never ever ever be happy.

MKIII color is beeeeaaaauuuutiful.

Inexperienced photographers will have color casts. Trust me, the only time there is a color cast is when the photog' screws up.

...no colour cast that I've ever noticed. About the only issue might be that the AWB sometimes doesn't quite correct for low wattage tungsten - but the Tungsten preset is pretty damn good. Here's 2 daylight jpegs with no colour correction.
24-105

The purple under the second seagull's body is obviously a reflection from the tray.
100-400

Those are nice pictures but honestly I'd never use such shots to judge whether a color cast exist. Even the color-casty original 1D would produce those kinds of pics and look great. It's when you need to reproduce skin tones that these things really become apparent.

Let's see some skin tone pics from the Mark III.

the second image is blurry and does seem to have a cast issue to me.

Here's one with skin tones, and this is truly terrible light, completely different over the ring and the stands, and at high ISO.

Troll alert ...

Are you really interested in the 1DIII, or are you just trying to spread false rumours?

In the thread you referred to they seemed to agree that the output was personal preference, and only related to jpg rendering of skin colour, and the original poster agreed that he didn't know the colour of the original model anyway - he said "Every 1D (not S) camera I've used from Canon--and I've used them all--has had color cast issues"

Seems like cr*p to me, maybe he should buy a Nikon?

Don't believe spreading this drivel adds to the general knowledge, but if you don't want to buy one, don't. I bought one and love it!
