Anyone buy a 1DIII from Ritz? How long did you wait?

I just confirmed my order of a 1DIII with Ritz.com and my order status is just listed as "back-ordered". How long should I expect to wait - weeks, months? Please only answer if you've had personal experience with ordering a 1DIII from Ritz. Thanks.
 
I ordered from Ritz back in the beginning. Each week I would call and they would tell me to expect delivery in 7-10 days. This went on for 5 weeks. I then cancelled my order and bought it through someone else. The good part is that it was easy to cancel the order. They may be getting more stock these days though. Good luck.
 
I pre-ordered the 1D3 on April 19th (there were 3 ion the list then); from the very first batch of 1D3s they received from Canon on the 24th, we received delivery Friday, May 25, specifying Overnight delivery (on shipment day there were 53 on the list, they only received 10 from Canon). When Ritz posts their SKU for the 1Ds3, I will again be ordering from Ritz online.

Ritz is huge, one of the largest Camera retailers in the USA; and get larger shipments and more frequent deliveries from Canon's warehouses because of this. Ritz's initial PO to Canon was over $1mil, just for the 1D3 model.

Ritz is very good in getting the product out. The on-line warehouses operate independently from the warehouses that service their 1100 retail stores; so you will not receive someone else's return...

ASK more probing questions,
so they don't give the canned responses:

A) please tell me, how many are on the waiting list? (ask when you place order)
they cannot tell you where you are on the list, just how many on the list.
B) how many are on the waiting list now (when you make the follow-up call)..?
C) how many did you receive on the last shipment?
D) when did you receive the last shipment?
E) then do some simple math, and make some ruf deductions.
If you get a nice person, they have the info.

I ordered from Ritz, local store, was suppose to be number 5 on the list from their warehouse in April. I finally cancelled the order 3 weeks ago when they had charged my credit card for the second month and still could not tell me when I would get the camera. I got one within a week from Berger Bros. A week later the local store called and told me that my camera was in.

Remember the Ritz warehouses that service the retail stores, are different/separate from the Ritz OnLine warehouses.

I'm told that Ritz on-line gets the priority for the Pro equipment first (because they don't want the expensive Pro stuff sitting on shelves all over the country). The retail stores cater more to the soccer-moms and the consumer lines, so they get a few units for occasional retail special orders.

I had one on order for about 8 weeks and while I was waiting I called B&H everyday to check and see if they had any come in. After 3 - 4 weeks of calling B&H, a salesman asked me if I wanted to place an order with the understanding that my credit card would be charged and that when the next shipment came in I would get one. Well the next day I recieved an email from B&H telling me that my camera was being shipped out. Now I have two Mark III's because a week later Ritz shipped my camera out that I had on order with them. You will be waiting for weeks and getting emails telling you that they (Ritz) have not forgoten you. I forgot them.... and now have to decide weather to keep the second as a back-up or send it back. They have a 30 day return policy. I have 15 days to decide.

I've preordered quite a few lenses from ritz and I've never been kept waiting...they got their shipments before the local mom and pop stores did. I was the first on the block to have a 5D/70-300 DO IS/24-70 4L all ordered through Ritz. However I didn't use ritz online, I used a local ritz store where I know the people and had them order it for me and kept bugging them until it came in.
 
I too ordered from Ritz and then I waited. It seemed that a lot of people were getting D3's from smaller stores while I sat on a large waiting list. I cancelled and tried my luck with Berger Bros in NY and had it winging it's way to me in one day.
 
had a 10 day return policy???
