How long has it been up? I saw it and signed up about 8:00pm PDT. That probably makes me number 25,000 or so.

I signed up for the 1D Mk III email notify list right after it was announced.

A while later B&H posted that they can no longer take any more names for the list.

To this day I have never been notified of one being in stock. I bought mine in June from a local dealer. Maybe they have not gotten to me yet, but ...

Best of luck, but I have very little faith in any list that B&H may create.

My choice was to get on many waiting lists and buy from whomever called first.

A few years ago when the 1DsII came out, I signed up for it hoping to be one of the first to get an email. Impatiently, I happened to get up around 5am one morning and look on B&H only to see it "In Stock" and couldn't get my order in fast enough.... I woke up real quick that day - haha!

Needless to say, I never did receive that notification. I put my name in anyway, but I wouldn't hold your breath - it's about being in the right place at the right time I suppose.

You're probably right. I never got any email notification for the 1D MkIII from B&H even though I signed up for that soon after their list opened and long before it closed. Oh well, there'll have to be some 1DsIII's available eventually.

Two notes ... on list and availability ... smkIII was supposed to be out last year but they had to delay until they released new wide lenses .. 16-35 & 14, my local shop has been taking names on the 1DsmkIII list for 15 months now ... I got lucky, I am 3rd on the list ... on the other hand my dealer said he has been told that production is half or less what the 1DmkIII is/was due to complexity of assembly and FF CMOS production. The smkIII isn't the camera that every sports shooter on the planet needs to get, and I suspect--or maybe just hope--that the $8,000 price tag will discourage at least a few of the more-plastic-than-sense amateur gearheads who continue to swamp the mkIII.

Hopefullly production shouldn't need to be as high.
