Hi all,

I read all these post about how good the lipo is. I am considering buying it.

2 questions though:
  • Will be lipo B30 work with an E20. It is referenced as an E10 accessory.
  • Which serious web site has the best price to order it from.
I am living in the US.

Sorry if some of the answers can be found on this forum. I just could not find them.

Hiya Seb,

I would think that it would work with the E20 as both camera's are basically the same body.

Hiya Seb,

It sure does work fine with the E-20. I think that Samy's camera has the best price. There have been different opinions about this vendor in this forum in the past. I can't really tell because I bought it personally in one of their LA stores. They were quite courteous there. Good luck,

Jack.

Go Lipo32

Samy's camera is out of it. They are going to order the next bunch next week, but they will be priced $400 :-(.
Too expensive for me.

I'm looking around $250, but cannot find this price anywhere.

The B&H (bhphotovideo.com) web site has the B-30 for $270. The B-32 is $430. I have ordered off and on from them for over 20 years. Their service has been uniformly excellent.

I use the LiPO-30 with the E20 - works great.

The LiPO-30 may be hard to find. I've been told by several shops that Oly has discontinued the LiPO-30 and only manufactures the LiPO-32 - more power but more expensive!

I bought mine from samys.com about a month ago - best price at the time - good service - they answered an email shipping question by telephone! Last time I looked B&H and Cameta still had some.

Joel,

As I understand it, the B-32 has twice the capacity of the B-30. For me, the B-30 is plenty, especially since it is significantly less expensive. I got mine from Samy's for $229 plus tax and shipping. Most places have the B-32 for $400+. I've shot about 100 frames, a few of them with flash, and the battery still reads 90% when I turn the camera on.

Ed
ed,
are there significant differences between b-30 and b-32? is it
worth the money to go with the b-32?

thanks,
joel

If you have the LIPo 30..could you not just buy the battery that comes with the LiPo 32 for the added power? Or is the the actual hardware different?

Joel,

I agree with Ed 100%. I just received my B30 from Samys and it sollved my 340MD problem I shot over 100 frames yesterday and it's still going strong. B30 or B32 really depends on your need. If you shoot hundreds of shots in a session you may want to consider B32 otherwise B30 will be a good choice.

My 2 cents -

More important that how many frmaes you shoot - to me - is how long you can keep the camera on AND shoot pics.

IN Vegas, at the beginning of the month, I took a class. I left the camera on ALL DAY, with the LCD ON and shot a couple hundred pics. This is camera and LCD preview on for 8 hour days, shooting pics, with and w/o flash, and doing this multiple days in a row without charging.

I would have gone through 4 sets of AAs, at least. AT LEAST.

I have the B-30. It is incredible. Imagine the B-32. Get the 30, you wont be disappointed. If you have the money, get the 32, you'll be in heaven.

I've read that you can use the new batteries in the old 30 holder and charger. They are totally interchangable.
By the way, I believe I am probably the last several people that got the
30 from Samy's at pretty low rate, thanks to the members of this forum,
I am pretty that I can get 30 now at that low (199.95+SH) rate.
And, I saw some listings on eBay at $335 for the same thing, are they
crazy or what....:)

Cheers,
Da-Yuan

well looks like i'm going to get the 30 then. i can always order an extra battery or two for the 30 as back up, right? they sell the batteries separately as well, correct?

thank you everyone for the advice and input.

They DO, and you CAN, but I'm not sure if you need to. It charges within 2 hours and then you have it for a few days. I, personally, cant outshoot it without having opportunity to recharge, but I'm sure others can. Ask yourself if you really think you can or WILL outshoot the battery. Dont forget to keep you Oly Lithiums and a couple sets of NimH AAs for backup.

GageFX (If money isnt an object, pick me up an extra LiPo battery. Thanks in advance. :) )

No... crazy is the people currently bidding $2700 for a D60 that they can but for $2000-2100. Ebay seems great for people with equipment to unload.

thanks, gagefx. unfortunately, money is an object for me, big object for that matter. when i win the lottery and money is no longer an object, i'll pick up the lipo 32 with a couple of extra batteries for you :-)!

LOL. Glad to hear it.

You'll love the grip. I got it for $269 from B&H a week before they were $199 at Samy's. I coulda returned to B&H and gottent he price break, and money is an object for me too, but the grip is so darn good, it's worth double what I paid for it. No regrets.

just called and ordered the lipo 30 from samy's for $199. i was greedy and tried to order two. the gentleman that took the order physically went to the back and check. he came back with one, so i bought it, naturally. was going to get two, one for each of the e-10. oh well, one is better than none. he didn't know when the next shipment was going to arrive. i'll check with them next week to see if i can get another one.

thanks for everyone for your input and advice on the lipo 30. it should be here in a day or two. now...should i work on my web site and upload the pictures i have or start planning my next outting with the lipo...this weekend perhaps...hmmm...
