Uh Uh don't like it...

tell me of this 70-210, I'm intrigued....
I think you should start bidding on Alison's. It may work to your satisfaction and you'd get 60mm extra reach and definitely save a lot compared to the Oly 50-200.

OM 50mm macro f/3.5... I will have to research that one :)
Why would anyone use this when there's an f/2.0 ZD50 macro? Is it
just cost or some sort of benefit in size/weight?
Well, mostly cost, but also magnification. The lens go up to 1:1 while the ED 50 is only 0.5:1. But, it is a very expensive OM lens, being second hand and old, I think I would rather save up for the 35mm ZD macro if the budget is limited. Of course, the ED 50 beats all three in every aspect.

I think you took that wrong :) It IS a good lens! I have some great samples from it.... my issue is that for me this lens is too heavy for me to hand hold and keep steady.... I do not own a tripod or a monopod so that makes it pretty tricky.... add into that the weight of the E-1 alone. I wasnt saying anything bad about the lens itself, just that it is too much for me :)

I've used the 70-210mm, and the early models were quite sharp, but there is a color difference from the Olympus lenses. I still feel the bokeh on the 70-210mm is the best of the lenses I've used (40-150mm, 50-200mm, 50mm, 14-54mm, 11-22mm). So if you were in portraits where you want to defocus the background it might be appealing.

You do have to be prepared to use a manual focus lens, and it is as heavy as the 70-210mm. I always tell people to take the lens that they currently have, and put the camera into manual focus mode, and make sure they can adequately manually focus. I find it hard to do so, and once I was able to buy the 50-200mm, I haven't used the 70-210mm much.

In terms of what you need, you will need an adaptor from the lens mount the lens came in to 4/3. The 70-210mm I have is an Olympus OM lens, and I was lucky enough to get the free adaptor from Olympus before they started to charge for it. There are various asian and eastern european machinists out there that are making these adaptors that you should be able to find on ebay.

well, $80 for a lens certainly doesn't sound unreasonable, I'll most assuredly buy it, if someone can help me find the convertor that I need to be able to use it....(how much heavier than the 40-150 is the lens? sufficient that I won't be using it unless it's tripoded, and will it be safe with the mount and not put undue strain on the body?)

I posted above... and I replied to your email.... it isnt $80 on here.... that was only for ebay do a best offer to me for $65 and I will accept it :) that is if* you want it* LOL I am not putting pressure just trying to save you $$

I saw that, but, I can also understand the "I need funds" so $80 it is unless someone jumps on it first.....

(this would be MUCH easier if there were a chat or IM feature on this....my AIM is dhyde79.....drop me a line on there?)
