I tried to get them to boom, suceded BUT the blast just totaly blew out the image, see example, you can just about see gas lighter parts amongst the fire lol.

I think it would need the camera to be rigged up also to the strobe and microphone (not sure how), then a much faster camera shutter used along with the fast strobe, I tried 5 lighters at different settings and this was the best of them lol, so I used up the rest without the flame.

I should of used more delay so more splat 8-( next time.

Hey Mark ---

KABBBOOOOMMMMMMM ! ! ! !

so how did you finally got the butane to fire? (I don't think my idea of a glow plug was too practical). Try with a nearly exhausted lighter - looks like you have too much flame for as close as you are to the firing line (aw well, it's either feast or famine).
Great series, but now that you've got ignition, the last shots seem tame.
But if you put the first and last together ---> scrambled eggs!! 8~])

Take many pictures - a few are keepers, the rest are are lessons.

I have a Micro torch, like a mini bunson, see pic.

if you look closly at the 1st pic you will see just the top of it at the left of the wood. and for the emptying of the gas, this was the one that I nearly emptyed lol, so a faster shutter speed would be needed from the cam to freeze the fire, and for better exposure.

LOL.

Thanks very much for looking, and I had fun, but sadly not to show this time.

I guess you got it to go, now how do you catch it before the whole thing goes up.

Mark - I think the exposure is a bit off on the first one...and eyebrows do grow back!!!!

Actually, really like the second one - great job on all, though.....

yes, as i put the image was totally blown, I would need now to combined a fast camera shutter speed to get better exposure along with the strobe to freeze the lighter, I might need to Rig somthing up to the FZ50s remote cord so it fires as the strobe goes of. Thanks for viewing.

Fantastic Mark.

If I understood correctly, you only need to lower the shutter speeds to get what you want, right? The problem is the cost in lighters... :)

Thanks for the experience!
L.

PS: Again, please Mark, stay safe. Don't go too far. These were just too dangerous.

Thanks Rafael, for the comments, I appreciate it. hopfully I will get it right.
not mind the first and reckon that when you get a bit less exposure
on a shot like that it will be awesome.

Thanks very much for the nice comments.

the lighters are very cheap, like £1 for 8 of them, i just need some way of using a faster shutter speed so I dont get the blown highlights on the flames, this was taken with a 1 second shutter speed. the strobes that went of did freeze the lighter but the long shutter speed vrs the big flames just blew out the pic, I will keep trying, much fun.
