I just got a G2 and so far I'm pretty impressed! Anyway, I've searched and can't find an answer using the search function here. Is using the RAW format the best quality, if you have the memory? I went for the 1GB MicroDrive so it's really not a size problem. I'm just trying to figure out which format to use by default to obtain the best image quality. Are there pros and cons to this format? Thanks for any advice.

RAW is the best format. It records all the information processed by the CCD.

FYI. Try your search again there hundreds of posts out here on the topic. I found them very helpful.

Try searching on ; "raw" "crw" "tif." I think you'll find it helpful.

There is NO definate answer from the threads that I have read on this forum.
But can I put it like this.............
If you had a film camera would you throw away your negatives
Probably not.

Well that's the way I feel about not taking photos in RAW, and it's one of the reasons for me owning the G2.

Get yourself a program like http://www.breezesys.com/BreezeBrowser/index.html and have a trial of how easy it really is to handle these files.

So put the search facility back into action and read the cons and PRO'S to a great feature.
