Next challenge is ready (see http://www.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1005&message=2361743 for what these challenges are all about)

Time to try a new theme for the challenge.

Objective: Design a Magazine Cover

Rules: I have posted 4 very different images. Using mainly these images as raw material create a cover for a magazine. Whether you use an existing magazine cover as template or invent your very own is up to you.

Jury: Me, I will select the winner based on completely subjective terms :-) Main focus: creativity, humor, editing skills. It is completely ok to comment, praise, critize anyones challenge entries. It is also ok to try to influence my decision - but it probably won't work ;-)

Timing: The challenge will run for 7 days (and 7 nights). Winner will be chosen on April 3rd.

Here are the images (lowres). Download highres from http://www.mindspring.com/~cje/dpr/challenge (all files with "org" in the name)

Oh yeah, I didn't bother rotating them (that's part of the challenge ;-)

I wonder if this challenge was too hard or too boring - or if the arrival of spring has driven everyone away from their computers. Anyway last day is today.-- Claus

There were only 2 entries for this challenge. Wassup with the rest of the "usual suspects"?

Anyway after careful deliberation the winner is: John Huff

Both entries were good but I chose John's entry because I thought it looked a bit more "magazine"-like. The prize of course is a years free subscription to - what else - DP Challenge :-)

Well, John, you know the rules, you now have to come up with a new challenge.

Sorry, sorry...I'll be around for the next one-in the process of upgrading the ol' computer, so I'm sitting this one out.

Thanks John,

The image was what I thought of when I saw the pictures, and how I interpreted there relation to each other.
Congrats on your well deserved win !!

I would agree with clasium your entry was a very professional looking design, I think you maybe scared off the competition ;)

Nice job Faithman. I really like the way you created a view
through the arch.

Thank you Clausiam. I'll give the next challenge some thought and try to post the rules tomorrow. It looks like some of the regulars have lost interest in the game so we'll have to see how the next round goes.

I think it was just because my challenge didn't appeal to many of them (rules too strict maybe)? Yes, let's give it another shot.-- Claus
