Just got word that my D60 has hit the desk of my supplier here in Australia. I get it tomorrow morning. Should be great to play with over Easter before it gets on with its real job .... MAKING ME MONEY

Good work getting the first one in Australia. I hope you got a good price. I'm being told by Michaels Camera's and Canon Aust that six grand is what I will pay.

I'll probably get mine later in the year and from Delta or B & H.

I'm playing the waiting game as well. I want the price to settle down a little AND also see what the D100 can do in comparison, before I sell my soul to have a quality Dig Camera.

My dealer here in Adelaide is currently saying AU$4995 although this is not firm. Their first shipment comes in tomorrow - a whopping 1 camera! :-(

Fletchers in Sydney yesterday quoted me 5250 basic body kit, and 5750 with extra grip, battery and 192 MB card

Aden emailed me this morning saying they had just got my registered mail with check (I reckon it sat in the post office a few days is all I can say, it is no usual for email to take 10 days to Toronto from Sydney.)

Anyway I am now #9 on their list for the next shipment, expected late April at this stage.--CheersJames Young http://yjy.biz
 
Just rang Fletchers and they say
"not available till May-June, after the PMA in April, retail price AUD$7,500"
so there's conflicting info here

I got it from Kayell ( Vic) Contact John Toogood. Ph 94162848
Price was $5500 . great company with great back up service.

Can't wait to start photographing real clients with it. I am sure it is gunna be great...Cheers .... John

P.S Trade in on my D30 looks like $2000
 
sounds too good. (get it?) anyway, he says that he doesn't have any left and doesn't know when he'll be getting any more. And he won't/can't tell me how may he had in 1st shipment even though he says that it was today. Telephone manerism sounded a bit cagy!

My understanding is that they got two. Both pre-ordered. With only 70 to cover australia it is going to be a while before they get around.

Suprised at the phone thing. I know you were not talking to John but the rest of the guys are really good there too. As to there next delivery I suspect they are at the mercy of Canon Australia who are at the mercy of Canon Inc .

I expect the price every where in Aus to be about that depending on what is in my opinion the most important thing ..BACK UP SERVICE.

I think you will find that they will be around but going to those who took a leap of faith and pre ordered. As to the price I have to say that $7500 sounds way off the mark . Canon have indicated Officially $6000 meaning street prices are under that. i was expecting anything from $5500 to $5750 so was pretty happy..John
 
Sounds like we're being shafted again...

.....when was the exchange rate down at $0.40AU/$1US? Something obviously not right there, I know it's been bad, but come on. Should be a grand cheaper than that.

I was pretty eager on getting one, and trying to sell my D30....think I'll just hold on till a bit more competition comes here and forces the prices down.
