Hi everyone, I've recently aquired a Kodak DC4800 camera and I love it. I am trying to learnd as much about photography as I can so I can take great pictures. I was just wondering if anyone had suggestions for the best place for on-line prints. Right now I have an account with shutterfly and am awaiting my first set of prints, but am open to any others that my be better. If you would like to see some of my pictures from my trip to Washington D.C you can follow this link. http://www.shutterfly.com/osi.jsp?i=67b0de21b31dfbcc4580&notag=1

Ken, I have only used Ofoto.com so far and have been very pleased with the results so far. Of course they use Kodak paper ;-)

Two others that I will give a try for more serious printing are:
http://www.thelabsantarosa.com/ and
http://www.colorchrome.com/Home.html

Actually, the two labs I referred to I may use for other digital work such as slide scanning. I am not sure if they are suitable for "snapshot" types of pictures.

I have a 4800, and use shutterfly for my snapshots, and have been very pleased with them for that purpose. I have used Snapfish and DotPhoto as well and have not been as pleased. (Snapfish gave me dull looking prints, and DotPhoto sent me prints with highly visible banding - completely unacceptable.)

For larger size prints (poster size) I've used EZ Prints, and was very happy with the results. (I resized the photos from the Kodak camera before I uploaded them, and got very good results as well.

My opinion...

Marcus, you resized the images in what way? Made them smaller or larger? Image size will directly affect print quality, so I am curious ...

Hi Ken,

I have taken 4500 shots with the 4800 and if you are new to it I have some unsolicited suggestions for you.!

Indoors for flash shots..use a manual shutter speed of 1/90 or 125th at f 2.8 ..outdoors if sunny use the sun white balance instead of auto. The p mode for flash indoors does not work well but going manual will get you much better shots.

Dan, is that suggestion for external flash usage, internal or both?
