I updated the firmware, and was shooting indoors today at ISO 3200, and now I can not get the ISO to go back below 200. ISO Speed Range is not enabled and I have done no other changes that I can think of that could effect this. I can go up to ISO 3200, but only down to ISO 200.

I previously could go to ISO 100 (never enabled L)

Any ideas?

Dosen't anyone read the manuals?

I guess Canon must be not shipping some cameras with manuals. It must be frustrating for Canon because if the highlight priority is enough to throw people off, the AF Custom Functions must be lighting up their phones. People should have to take a test in order to qualify to own a 1 series camera. There is another thread right now with some guy who doesn't know you can check your firmware version. Oh yeah, he owns a Mark III but calls it "filmware"

Yes, sir. This is how you turn it on. Now don't get confused, because if you don't push any buttons for a while, it will turn off. Don't get scared. If that happens, any button will turn it back on, but ONLY if this switch is in the on position. And you look thru here and if you see black, don't return the camera, take off the lens cap.

I bet there are people out there like this.

Maybe I am talking about nothing, but all I know is that there are some pretty dumb questions out there. The top of the list is when someone looks at a picture shot with a 85L at 1.2 and wants to know why the background isn't sharp.

It would be nice if Canon had developed some tutorial videos provided either on DVD in the box or via CPN website. However myself I read manuals sometimes even twice I would appreciate to also have some tutorial videos fo some major parts of the operations.

How did you create the picture that shows the jump in sequence ? This is a great picture!

I agree with you and your example. It is pretty basic but, look this forum is for people of various levels to exchange information. Yes he or she could pick up a book and learn or go take some classes. Maybe they just like the interaction that this forum gives them and if it bothers you that much have a little chuckle and move on to the next thread. After all no question is stupid if you don't know the answer. Have some patience. Some where along the way i'm sure someone showed you some.

There are settings that will keep the ISO at 200 or over.
Re: IDMIII ISO Issue, Quick Answer, Reset all Settings, then read th Booklet.
Therefore do the above.

I second the idea of having Canon produce video tutorials. The manuals leave a great deal to be desired as they don't explian in enough detail the affects of each custum function. A video on the new AI servo focusing system alone would have alleviated a great deal of confusion about how different settings should be used for different shooting conditions. This would save us a lot of trial and error time in learning the camera. This a marvelous and sophisticatd piece of equipment and deserves at least a more comprehensive manual. But this is typical of Canon. Ask anyone who has purchased any of their top-of-the line printers about how incomplete and lacking their manuals are. They should hire someone like Michael Reichman and Jeff Schewe to produce training videos. Their videos on Lightroom descreased the learning curve on this program considerably

....I'm going there...because I've never been there!......

How much of the booklet is retained over time? Anything that's not regularly used is forgotten.

In many cases DP review is a more efficient Q & A resource than the 100 page, #4 type manual.

Post a question; get an answer while you do a little surfing. What's stupid about that?
