2 full size portraits 1D vs D60 !!

This is not a fair comparison.

Each of these portraits has totally different lighting.

The D60 image appears to be taken with a flash head on.

The 1D image appears to have been taken in a controlled studio setting.

Its best to compare two images taken of the same subject in the same lighting.
I personaly like the 1D image better!
what do you guys think?

I think the model in the 1D shot would think that the photo is too good.

So much for pixel wars - it seems that the D60's CMOS still has some "buttery" smoothing that gets put on the pic. The 1D's resoultion seems higher - looking at hairs - even with 30% larger pixel size.

One issue may be that the 1D image is brighter and the subjects aren't the same - unknown crop/zoom factor.

I'm happy with my 1D for action shots!

I too just got my 1D.
But I still hope phil would do a side by side of the D60/1D IMAGE compare.

Notice how everybody's comparing the D60 to the 1D? The latter camera is almost twice the price. Sweet, sweet D60. I love thee without even meeting you.

Pretty impossible to say without seeing the exact same image, and the exact same shooting conditions. Preferences can be biased by subject matter, colors, contrast of the scene, composition, etc. Show me two of the same subject, same exposure, et al, from a D60 and 1 D, and then you can make a more accurate comparison.

Wrong. The latter is almost 3 times the street price. D60, $2100. 1D, $5500.

Most of the time I'm accessing the forum from home on a dialup connection, which bogs down due to your habit of embedding full-size images in your messages.

I'd like to see the photos, but I'm not willing to take five mintues to do so.

Please post reduced size samples in your messages, with links to the full size images for those who are interested.

Thanks.

Guys I only wanted to show two pictures from two good cameras and try to show that the resolution gap between the two cameras is not as bad as some have thought.
I really didn't mean to insult any body with this post. If I did, I'm sorry

I don't have a D60 yet so it was hard to post the same image from both cameras under the same circumstances. This was only a ruff comparison if any at all.

I also wrote in the subject line that those were full size pictures to warren people with dial up connection.
You guys take it easy and be positive.

Bill, if you'll put a semicolon after the URL, it'll be a link instead of an actual picture. For shots that big, it's too hard to see the image in this 400-pixel-wide window anyway.

I remember that you said on that second shot, you used f/16.

Do you know the aperture used on the first shot?

The first shot is definitely softer than the first one, but it's hard to say how much is due to aperture, lenses used, post-processing, vs. the actual cameras used.

Some would even argue that the second shot is TOO sharp! --The Unofficial Photographer of The Wilkinsons http://thewilkinsons.crosswinds.netPhotography -- just another word for compromise

It's unfortunate that people are comparing and competing two cameras that were designed for different applications and targeted for different markets.--Peter B.www.gpsriders.com

EXIF info on images says:
D60 used 28-135 mm @ 60mm f11 shutter 1/180 ISO 100
1D used 70-200 mm @ 195mm f14.1 shutter 1/80 ISO 200

Now how on earth can u compare these two images?--Kaur

I have to remove myself from the judging panel because I'm in love with the green eyed girl...

:)

Plus, as everyone has stated, there's too many unmatched variables here.
