Anyone have any "presets" they like or use for LR 1.1?

trying to get a good starting point to get the images a bit more punch/color. They are rather drab when first importing into LR.

Thanks,

im new to dslr (slr in general), and also PPing raw files.

I find that I get better and better the more I mess around with lightroom, no one is teaching me. I guess your eye gets trained the more you experiment with diff colors, wb, exp, contrast, sharpening, saturations, etc., etc.

I just hit default before adjusting each picture...i dont really have set presets for batch processing a gang load of pics (unless i shoot for a friends party and dont really care to keep the pics for myself)..sometimes I want to up saturation of diff colors, or up contrast more than other pics and of different colors, etc.

I was "shy" at the levels at first to keep the pics more natural, but then I notice it didn't really do much to the converted pics and looked very bland (not even natural) and worse then jpegs.. so I started going crazy and moving the levels waay more to the left or right and it looks much better.

just my 2 pennies.

Do yourself a favor and get Scott Kelby's book "The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom for digital photographers".It will save you a lot of time and frustration.

yeah, yeah, yeah... figured it was time to take this next step...

Not 100% sure of LR yet... still going back and forth between it and NX.

Definitely agree. I'm working slowly through the book and am still dealing with learning how to best manage my library, but I'm finding it (the book) very helpful and I absolutely love Lightroom. It's a perfect fit for my needs.
