I took these last month while I was in London. I post them just for the interest of the topic, not the photographic quality.

Anyway, Big Brother is watching you from top of high buildings

and here

and even on the street

and maybe here as well (I am stretching this one)

London viewers please tell me what these are. Thanks for watching.

I did not realize that those metal men had made it all the way to London, i was up in Southport a month or so ago and there is an entire beach full of them (about 100 i think)... (I live down in Dorset). They are based on the artist - but i really do not see the point in them!

A little damaged by the sea, but the same statue none the less...

They are made by a man called Antony Gormley I believe, he made a cast of himself and they made 100 of these.

Is that to scale or is it artist view of how he sees himself ?. That bloke needs to put some shorts on or he will be arrested for Indecent exposure, wonder whether his wife/GF is around London in the Buff ?

Exactly I agree what is the point of seeing 100+ naked statue's of him around the country and littering the place...

Plus if I'm not mistaken the ordinary joe in the street probably paid for these via one of the Quango's from the National lottery Art council/body. This money could be put to more useful uses like helping disadvantage children, Old age pensioner, people who are having it tough in the UK floods, funding War memorial funds and parades, rather going to this $%$%^.

Yes, I agree with you. Very ugly looking. Don't see any art value. Some years ago, there were moose sculptures in town in Toronto and they do look kind of nice. In fact, some of these mooses were purchased by private citizens here and put them in their yards, some dressed them up depending on the season. My grand kids seems to enjoy them.

Do you really think someone like that has a wife / girlfriend? ;-)

I agree with you about putting the money to better use!

I actually like these pictures and also the idea, I don't think the money on art is wasted and should be used to help with waterfloods or elderly people, what if the money spent on sillicon breasts was used for this purpose? ;)

Oy yes that WOULD be terrible!

People paying for sillicon breasts know what they are spending the money on. We pay our council taxes and VAT - and the government buy 100 metal men. It does seem a bit weird!

I wouldn't be surprised with the dosh he gets for making endless sculptures about himself in the buff he probably has a hang-on partner whether it is fe/male, etc.

Also I must say I do like art and threatre + shows but more of the old school, e.g., turner, constable, etc. I'm not keen on this modern ^%%% stuff and especially when it clutter up the beach and countryside + national lottery funding for this!!!!

silicon breasts is just an example, that's why I made a ;) , you may fill in what you want, for instance if the money spent on managers to manage submanagers who are managing the other managers could better be spend on the elderly or other humanitarian fundses....I think the goverment should indeed spend money on art, sometimes you may doubt if it was well spent.....

your missing the point...

you want silicon breasts..you pay for them yourself

you want your "art" on public property...the public pays for it
