F31: Is the 15s exposure of the night mode usable?

Hey Gus, I don't see them at all in your picture. They are small,
purple dots, and once you see them you'll always see them! It looks
like your camera doesn't have them, at least in that shot- maybe you
got lucky! It's frustrating because I love the camera in general.
Shawn, it seems that no F31's user is spared from hot pixels. Even if the long exposure (15s) shot was the first picture taken (so the sensor was cool enough), the picture came out with hot pixels (they are visible at 100% view - that is full resolution).

Below, you can see the original file and a 100% crop from it (top-right corner of the original picture)

Thanks for your useful tips, Gus. I'll give them a try.
Btw, they must work because they come from you :)
Try fireworks mode ,, It is 4 sec and F8

Hey Gus, thanks for the post, at least I'll stop toying with the idea of sending my camera back to fuji for repair! The fireworks mode sounds like an interesting way to get a higher aperture as well, I'm going to give that a try next time I'm out taking night shots

ConanFuji, your picture with 15 second exposure looks great to me (neglecting the purple fringing)...I skip over composition because you took them 'spontaneously' just to show how the 15s exposure works with your F30.
Thanks for posting them.
What a challenge.
Here you go...
It's 10pm when I took it 15 mins ago

1/ 15 sec

Looks like star trails to me, not hot pixels.

You should work at the guarantee/replacement department of Fuji! :-) These are SO obvious hot pixels! Have them as well, bug the cr*p out of me :-(

i like to shot the sky at night because i love to see on stars and moon, unfortunately f31fd dont has longer exposure time setting and longer optical zoom, otherwise it will the best for me...

Model: FinePix F31fd
ISO: 400
Exposure: 15.0 sec
Aperture: f/2.8
Focal Length: 8mm

Hi ffmitch, your monitor must be doomed if you can't see the superabundant hot pixels. Be happy, at least you can see the stars :)
