Hi all,

Took these yesterday......a winters day.....so not much light......I cheated a bit by nailing a bun to the post......but what can a chap do......if one needs to be as close as possible.......anyway I hope you dont mind me sharing these.....And anyway, the birds were very hungry....lol.........."A" mode..100iso...settings all low....Taken outside my backdoor...

I cheated a little more with this one...and cloned out the bun...do you think it works?????

C/C welcome of course....

are tough in NZ. You gotta put a nail through it before eating the thing. LOL. Hope your wide did not cook them. When mine tried to make bread rolls they were so hard I suggested we could use it to drive nails in, she threw some at me and they hurt.

I really like the first one, you could almost title it king of the castle. Not sure I am 100% happy with the placement, but without playing with different crops not sure if any suggestions would be any better. Are these silver-eyes?

Very pretty little birds, Rik. Even though they are not in the most natural of settings sometimes that's the easiest way to get close to them as you so aptly illustrate. Love the sharpness and detail in these and the clone job was masterfully done.

Hi Raf

No no....I bought them as yesterdays bread...feel sorry for the birds in winter..

I'm sure they weren't hard as nails.....you are naughty...

Your right...I did try to make it off centre..but somehow I didn't get it to work...never mind..
Are these silver-eyes?
We call them waxeyes in NZ....but your name may be more correct...

Very nice work here Rik, on the sharpness of the images and the PP work..well done..feel sorry for the sparrows, they are out numbered so they look like they are just waiting their turn at the bun, enjoyable post..Bill ~

Hi Ken,

Thanks for looking, and for your kind comments.....I'm still learning about doing the cloning stuff...so thanks...Trouble in this case is that I should have cloned something natural in place of the bun, perhaps another bird or a bug....lol

Hi Bill,

Thanks for dropping by.....and thanks for the positive comments...your right about the sparrows.....they are just waiting for the right moment to pounce...and they sure do....

One thing I've noticed about birds....is that some of them spend more time and energy defending the food than they do actually eating it...bit like some of us more deprived and desparate humans.....

Lovely creatures, Rik! Loved the shots. They seemed starving...
I cheated a little more with this one...and cloned out the bun...do you think it works?????
More or less... I would try to make the top part of the post different, darker for example. And with sharped edges.

I do this kind of things many times...

Thanks!

I love the picture and the PPing works well. Getting a flat surface pn the post is a good job.

Hi Trevor,

I'm so glad you liked the picture, cos you are a tough man to match....Thanks for your input and encouragement...I appreciate it very much....

Thought I would include a shot I was going to reject because of the blurs....and wondered if it actually had some merit........got any thoughts???

Funnily enough I like the blurs, but the bird being wacked in the head and that loose tail are what would relegate it for me.

Hi Luis,

Hey!...that's just brilliant.....much, much better than mine....where
did you get the material from.....
From the pole itself, but from several different parts. And I changed the brightness. You have to dedicate some time to the cloning and be careful, otherwise it will be apparent. You have to permanently zoom in and out between 50% and 500%.

Cheers,
L.
