1 model, 1 D200, 5 pictures

Hi Sander,

Great use of the 24-120 VR as a portrait lens! :-)
Nice model also!

I like the 3rd and 5th a lot. Maybe the third is framed a bit too tight.

Is she a rented model? I search some rental models for a shoot with some of my Japanese friends here in Holland, in September. If you know a model rental agency which is in the area of Utrecht and you have good experiences with them by means of price and models itself, please let me know.

Michel,

I saw this girl in a restaurant and asked her if she was interested to model for me. She said "yes", and the shoot was her first camera experience. She liked it and I think will continue her very fresh model carreer.

The best model I worked with sofar was My Huong, very experienced and not expensive (about 25 euros / hour).

Have a look at the next site, you'll find galleries of My there.

Pretty girl; great skin-tones and outstanding use of lighting. Would like to know how you controlled the lighting and settings used.

Considering how the 24-120 VR lens is so often "blasted" for being "soft" it sure did a good job for this.

Indeed Lil,

He should have an exceptional good copy! :-)
Especailly when you take the aperture into account :-)
Well Michel, it's supposed to be the sharpest way up there. I seem to recall reading f/9 up to f/16. So an f/11 (the only shots I could get EXIFs of had an f/11) should be it's sharpest. However - control of background can be a problem, but not in this case.

There are good copies of this lens around. Mine is good, but slightly "soft". Normal for the lens.

I'm just a tad surprised at the choice of aperture.... I was told very shallow DOF for head shots.

Great shots overall. I would agree, though, with the eyes in shot #1. Way too much whites showing. Shots #2 and #4 that use the same sideways glance with the eyes works better with less whites showing.

Perhaps a bit overlit. And the posing on most seems contrived, stiff. Is that what you were going for?
Ofcourse more images were taken during this shoot, in total a little
over 500.

Here are some examples, the pbase gallery on this model will grow
over the next few days.

This was my sixth modelshoot. And first for the model. C&C welcome
and appreciated.

D200 with 24-120 AF-S VR, all images ISO 100.

Shane,

I have signed model releases for Dreamstime, Shutterstock and Istock.

The shoot resulted in 515 photo's, maybe 60-80 good enough for stocksite upload.

We'll see, I'm having vacation right now, my laptop with me so plenty of time to process the photo's, upload and keyword. Should give my sales a boost...haven't uploaded for several weeks....want to see double digit sales per day again.

...did you consider shooting her outside the studio? This being her first time and all, do you think having an environment to interact with have been better or worse for the session?
If posing seems to be a bit stiff....this was the girls first session
modelling....I thought she did very well for a first session....I've
seen worse.

I think she has a promising carreer in semi-professional modelling.

Yes and no...my mind is also on selling the taken shots via stocksites and studio pictures with white or black backgrounds sell better / easier than outdoor pictures.

That...and given the weather in The Netherlands at the time we were planning the shoot resulted in a studio shoot. Light can be better controlled there.

I am planning an outdoor shoot soon...there is a holiday parc nearby which has an Italian / Spanish look alike environment which is great as an outdoor location.

You have obviously gotten the most out of this lens.
Great model! Great shots!

If you get a chance however, at least try the same model with a 28- 70 AF-S or a 85mm 1.4. Rent one, borrow one, whatever it takes. I believe the same conditiions with either lens might yield you more.
