What???? That's just dumb! They seem to recommend most of the older low capacity cards and not the new, faster and higher capacity ones. That's ridiculous!

They recommend the SanDisk 256MB Type II card, but not the Type I? And all that for a 'prosumer' camera, that is aimed to advanced users?

As for the Microdrive, I thought they did not recommend the 170MB and 340MB, at least this is what they told me.

Anyway, I am using a SanDisk 256MB Type I and hane no problems so far. I think it is high time they updated their list.

8MB CF card for a 5Mp camera? Yeah, right! Like you can fit half a TIFF in there!--Pablettowww.pbase.com/pabletto(samples taken with the MINOLTA DiMAGE 7)Last update 26 February 2002 (MORE food photos)

And I am also using a 96MB Type I CF card, which (I just noticed) is not in the list either.

I can forward the email to you if you wish, but that is a cut and paste from the note.

Is that a normal 256MB Type I SanDisk you are using or a high speed?

Russ, why are you saying that? I did not say I do not believe you. I just comment on MINOLTA's recommendations. Thanks for posting your findings, it is just that I think MINOLTA should have updated their list long ago.

Just a normal one. The 'Ultra' ones were not available when I bought that one.

The e-mail reply is inaccurate. The same information is displayed on the Minolta Web site (under Support ~ Compatibility), but it says "Tested CompactFlash card." Some cards do not work with the camera, but many do. I use a Ridata 256 MB with no problem.

Add the Kingston and Viking 256 mb cards to your list....

AND now with firmware version 122 my Mr Flash 128 card lives again!

John Mankos

Visit my homepage at http://home.ptd.net/~mankman
And my Data Genia and Butterfly Group now again works, with with v122. So when you ask what works, it depends on which firmware you have installed. Minolta in their continued uninformative correspondence neglects to mention that at all!!!!!!!! The list they send is the same as before v122!
Rolf

You can also add Apacer 128, and Twinmos 256 Mb.

I have used 1 apacer and 2 twinmos card with both fw 1.21 and 1.22, without any problems.
