Haven't been here in a while glad to see it's going.

My Problem_ this first picture of the day will not take. I get a release the write light goes on and off normaly. I get no picture display and the camers is totaly locked up no fuctions at all. The picture on the flash card is a black frame. I power off the camera power it back on and then its fine for the rest of the day. I can not cause the lock up again. The next day its starts all over. Any ideals

Try search "First frame black" or "FFB"

Thanks for everyone's feedback and sorry for my slow response. Well for $281.00 I think I will just live with the problem. Thats probaly 50% of the camera's value.

I thought KM and Sony were covering this problem for cameras even if they are out of warranty.

I sent an email today to sony to see if in fact they will repair it free of charge I will share their response with you
 
I've been having this problem off and on for the last year - but Thursday of last week it happened to me four times in a row. Originally it was only one frame when I hadn't used the camera in more than a week or two, which I can live with (vs. $281), but the four times in a row, turning the camera on/off each time, was pretty scary. Anyone else had repeated black frames? FBFx4 in same event.

another poster had suggested you would find that this is being covered by Minolta/Sony as a defect. In the past folks have posted relevant site information, email contacts, etc., about how to get it repaired.
 
Good news I heard from sony today. They told me to send them the camera. They would check it out. If it was the first frame black known issue it would be repaired under warranty even though it was beyond the year. I will probaly wait several days b4 I send to be sure the problem occurs when they get it. They also told if it wasn't they would issue me a quote ($281 I'm sure). Witch I will just have them send it back and live with. Its not that big of a deal unless I forget to take that first shot.
