Well the rain has been relentless but I did find a couple of gaps

Meadow Brown, they are pretty boring but he did pose obligingly so he deserved his chance for world fame

Kinfgfisher, not great but 10 times better than all my previous so once again he deserves his chance

Remember my swan, well he's still a bit forlorn and letting me get close

This shows very clearly why Black-headed Gulls are badly named

And four pictures of a very obliging Common Darter

The weekend weather is looking good so let's hope for a great weekend's photography

Excellent shots Trevor, the kingfisher really makes me a but jealous.
I saw it only once when it bumped to our window but never came back
again. Last shot is beautiful!

Thanks Bas one day I will get a real picture of a Kingfisher but they fly away at the slightest hint of human presence

WOW! Trevor, I think I will have night mares now after the last few,
seriously, fantastic shots, love the Kingfisher!! I have only ever
seen two, and am really quite jealous.
Thanks Heather, now is one of the best times of the year to see Kingfishers as they move away from the nest sites and will turn up on lakes, ponds and just about anywhere that has freshwater. As winter comes in they move to the coast and around here they can be seen around Portsmouth Harbour. Down in Dorset Radipole at Weymouth used to be a good place.

Very nice series, Trevor, particularly the macros of the darter. He/she looked very happy to have its picture taken.

Daniel

shame about the background for the kingfisher, pretty enough but does not help define the bird. I suspect when you finally get one it will be great, they are beautiful birds. Like the auburn headed gull.

A very fine series, Trevor. Love the BH Gull shot. Great exposure and detail on that one. Also enjoyed the close-up of the DF Eye. Looks to me like you are getting quite good with the macros these days.

Have you shown an aubern headed gull or is it a case of one day like my Kinfgfisher?

Thanks Ken I'm pleased you like the Gull. Although one of our commonest species and relatively easy to photograph I never get fed up with trying to capture something new, in this case just how chocolaty brown that head is.

Trevor, congrats on getting a shot of that kingfisher. Naturally one could hope to get even closer and get more detail, but it is truly something special just to get a shot of one and even with good focus.

As goes the swan and the gull - on my screen they are overexposed and have blown highlights. Maybe my screen is brighter than yours. I still think your previous close-up of that swan is one of the better bird photos on this forum and better than this one.

I think the first dragonfly shot is the best when it comes to pose and composition. It also seems to have good focus. Again it is a bit bright on my screen. I prefer the next shot as goes exposure, but the first one is the best in every other way.

Hope you get more chances on that kingfisher! What a marvellous little bird!
