--I ordered the G7 today but it was a toss up between it and the S5IS. I went to CC they didn't have a G7 surprise surprise LOL but they did have the 5 oh I wanted that camera sweet. But I am sticking with my original plan to get the G7 as I wanted the smaller of the two. Now I hope the G7 has the wow factor as the 5 did for me. I am not worried about the grip as so many other seem to worry about, I am also not worried about raw as I never use it anyhow

-I would also like to add when shopping around I called with a sales man at Abes says the S5 IS isn't out yet and an advantage it has over the G7 is IS. I told him it was out and that the G7 does have IS man don't these people know anything?

I have the same problem when I go in to Circuit City - I know more about cams than anyone there - LOL!

You won't be disappointed with the G7 but I must admit I am having fun with my S5. The size of the G7 is a definite advantage over the S5 and the camera is built very well too. I've captured some great images with both and think they are some of Canon's best camera efforts to date. Enjoy your G7. Here's one of my favorite G7 shots:

is that a color-accent shot? How do you use that feature (haven't figured out the controls to "actiavte" the color I want to keep)?

The trees look like they're black & white (or sepia), so the green of the moss and grass in the trail really stands out.

Actually no it's not color-accent. This is actually the way it was.

Yes I got lucky with that shot and have gotten many comments on it. The right place at the right time with the right camera and the right settings.

What a picture. I have hiked many miles over places such as that and you captured it so well.

Matt, that is one fantastic photo. Thought at first it was taken in SI of NZ. Must now look up your other G7 photos and try not to feel too disheartened about my own efforts!

Thanks. Finding the shot is half the battle - that hike was my first outing with the G7... Matt

... I did not intend to take over your thread. Just wanted to re-assure you that the G7 is capable of nice pic(s) ... Matt

Do you mean the South Island of New Zealand?... I wish I had been there. Trust me my pictures aren't anything special but I still enjoy taking them - and that's the fun part... Matt

Yes, down in Fjordland in particular. Go there soon, take your G7 and post your photos. You are too modest.

You did a wonderful job here on the exposure. With the trees, and the little bits of light shining through, the color of the moss, it's not easy to get a good exposure. This is perfect. Thanks for posting it. You should be a salesperson for Canon. :-)

Thanks. That is a shot I've probably gotten more comments on then any other I've taken with my G7 (and I've actually taken better ones IMO) ... Matt
