surprised by 30D raw

After having had 300D and 350D I upgraded to 30D just recently. Before I was using RawShooter essentials 2006 to process my raw files and was used to it. Of course, it was simple to use and free software. Now I can't use it any more - won't work with 30D. I have looked at lightroom. I am overwhelmed by all the things it can do - too many things to adjust. At least it seems intimidating in comaprison to RS essentials I had. Maybe there is something less intimidating I could use? Any suggestions I will appreciate and will read all advice based on personal experience.

Have you tried Canon's Digital Photo Professional software yet? it's free too... and I find it to be one of the best RAW converters I've ever tried in terms of results... Some complain about the 'work flow' of DPP... but I'm not sure I've ever really heard any serious complaints about it's results or price...

I know that RS premium( v. 1.0.3 builtd 77) is OK. Check update!

I have some GREAT news for you. RawShooter Essentials 2006 does support the 30D. Either the next to last or the last update. I don't use it, but I have version 1.21 build 72 on this PC and I just opened a 30D raw file to be sure. I'm sure the download is still available somewhere, but it's not at the official site anymore. Happy 4th of July.

I checked this raw shooter link. That page is french, but the link is at german page. I see I am among highly intelligent crowd. Unfortunatley german site did not like me and as asking for some sort of passwords. Was not able to downlad.

I used to prefer DPP until I tried Lightzone from http://www.lightcrafts.com/

The most versatile and easiest to use RAW program I've found. Try the free trial download (also works with jpgs as well.)

Thanks, as I was able to download this and install it. The program runs well. I may have done something wrong when I first filled in my information, when I opened the program it asked me to verify the information and I noticed a typo on my e-mail address. I corrected this and then accepted the agreement.The on-line registration failed. It states I must register in order to use the program. However I am able to use the program anyway. I have opened and closed it 4 times. Each time when I open it, it asks me to register, I hit ok. But the registration fails and tells me it will try again the next time I open the program. Well the registration always fails. But I can still use the program So thank you.
