That IS a neat one - and like one or two others here , I didn't realise the TZ1 also did TeleMacro Zoom. I was put off the TZ1 as folk spoke of it , as I believed although still a few about in UK , that it was in Silver .. but Mell on Forum . a recent new TZ1 owner , said she got a Black over there .. and lo and behold I came upon a UK site just last night with BLACK ones.. and being the older model , barely more than half the latest TZ3 price !! .. Quite a bargain isn't it - just a 2.5 screen instead of the 'huge' 3-inch (not a fantastic difference .. it ISN'T truly quite 3-inch anyway - a Delkin 3" Frame is just slightly too big , so somebody is out in quoted size (!!) .. but I think near all else is same on the TZ1 isn't it - PUS Zoom Video if you happen to want that .. NOT on the TZ3. I THINK it's same Manual , so most MUST be the sameThats a neat shot. Sometimes people forget that TZ1 can do
telemacros too.
Eric, what is "tele"macro zoom? i dont understand the tele part, could you explain it pls, i am a noob at photography, thanks. That IS a neat one - and like one or two others here , I didn'tThats a neat shot. Sometimes people forget that TZ1 can do

Well, I suppose if I try to put it simply , or start by reminding you , that when shooting a Macro it is nearly always the thought that we have to bring the camera almost right up to the object - often as little as a few inches away generally. But this TeleZoom Macro allows you to take the shot with the camera at what can be a variable distance from the item being photographed - SET in Macro mode on the Dial , but actually focussing on the subject of attention , by using the zoom lever on top of camera, mainly to just get the right framing (composition) you want, at the distance away that you happen to be. Technically the optimum focus and distance (zoom) will vary - and one post running here right now gives a fair bit of technical detail. But that apart - FORGET the technicalities ... set your camera in MACRO position , then step back anything from such as 4 or 5 feet , to as much as say 9 feet .. from your position , zoom to get a good composition ,and half-press to set focus - then shoot.Eric, what is "tele"macro zoom? i dont understand the tele part,That IS a neat one - and like one or two others here , I didn't

My pleasure, my dear. Now go out and try one - think you'll soon love it...Thanks Eric,
I wondered how those great zooms were accomplished!

Curiously, my experiments seem to give a slightly sharper image on
landscape type shots, when in "Beach" mode. I cannot think of why
this should be, but it seems to be so.
