I have three lenses along with camera: 18-55 AF-S/55-200 VR/ 50/f1.8D.
I hope to take all of them when I travel.
Thanks.

I have the crumpler "5 million dollar home" bag which comfortably carries my D40, kit lens, Sigma 30mm/1.4 and Nikon 50mm/1.8. I'm positive it'd fit the 55-200mm because I'm looking at the getting the 70-300mm and that's right on the edge of fitting into the bag (while attached to the D40 that is).

The Crumpler is a nicely constructed bag, and looks more like a messenger bag than a camera bag :) The only warning I'd give is to read their size specification closely as many of the bags look bigger in the pictures than they actually are!

Tfenne:

When all your gear is in is there room for a wallet and keys and such right now in your 5 Million $ Home? Maybe in the front pocket?

Also, did you look at the Crumpler 6 Million Dollar Home? I have the exact same gear as the OP and I was wondering if the 6 Million Dollar Home would be a more comfortable fit, plus leave room for a flash or filters as I get them.

Thanks!

Definitely. I keep my extra memory cards, card reader and cables in the bag the whole time, in the mesh pocket that is part of the opening flap. And the front pocket is large enough for a reasonable size wallet (not Costanza size though), keys etc.

While I really like my bag, I'm beginning to think the $6m might have been a better choice. The $5m looks bigger in the pictures than it is in real life, and with the body + 3 small-ish lenses it's really at capacity. I'm looking at buying the 70-300mm, and I think it's going to be a very tight fit mounted on my D40.

Thanks tfenne, that's really helpful..Seinfeld reference included : )

Even the 5 Million $ Home is a stretch on my budget, so it's really not worth getting the bag if it's not going to be roomy with the option for some expandability.

I think I'm going to convert a vintage handbag into a camera bag for now-- attack it with some foam and fabric until I get a definite idea of how I want to carry around my gear.

Thanks, again.
