Hi Packy,

The various pics you have posted from concerts must've sold more than a few G7's on this forum....they really are brilliant, though I suspect that this has more to to do with the photographer than the camera.

What I really want to know is how you are getting to take these shots without security pouncing on you. The G7 is hardly discrete.

I was at the Frank and Walters gig in the Spiegeltent the other night, no sooner had I lifted the G7 to take my first shot when a security guy appeared at my side and told me "no pictures" while behind him people snapped away happily with their 3MP mobile phones.

I wonder what our friend who has been banned thinks of these
Packy.Well done very good

Maybe it's something to do with that I'm 17st and covered from head to toe in tatoos!

I can still fit the G7 in my loose jeans pocket and they just think i'm glad to see them!

Seriously though, you'll always get one anchor. I was in the tent too for the freak show (maybe should have been in it!), but I didn't bring a cam that night. But recently I was at the Jam, Megadeath in Dublin, Slayer at the marquee and never had a bother. I will be going to "The Point" Tuesday for Ozzy Osbourne so hopfully I will get something from that too depending on how far back I am of course.

Amazing!...yet you could go on a russian site and download their music for a dollar an album and they are worried over a few snaps! Most gigs don't mind pocket cams...you just hit the wrong dude at the wrong venue.

It's great to see a rebel on the forum. I've met and made friends with some folks across the country but never came across a rebel (slang for a citizen of Cork) on the forum. See ya soon, dude.

great pics....this gives me some confidence that my G7 will be able to take photos at the Prince concerts at the O2 arena in london this summer. (Providing I can get one sneaked thorough !) Unfortunately I'm a small guy so not much place to hide the thing.

What settings / mode did you use for these pics ?

Brilliant shots of a great band...and good to see that not all of em died before they got old.

Cheers!

Oh man... How I luv to see Pete do his windmill.... I get goosebumps.
Awesome band; awesome........ Sure wish I could have seem them sometime.

Very nicely composed shots, technically good too. It would have been better though if the band members had been smiling or looking like they were enjoying themselves. Perhaps it's just a matter of timing that caught these expressions. I'm sure it was a great show - there is something about seeing these bands from the past that really connects with a part of you, if you're old enough to have been around when they first made it big.

couple of years ago I saw McCartney and his band and it was the next best thing to a Beatles concert. I was not expecting to be overpowered so by hearing "Magical Mystery Tour" or any of a few dozen other Beatles / McCartney tunes done love and sounding exactly like in the past.

Thanks, Mr. G.

I always shoot at ISO400 tops and for some strange reason I shoot in manual mode with aperture wide open and shutter set (and tested for a happy medium with the different lighting beforehand) anywhere between 1/40s to1/80s depending on the lighting. Some of those are with he normal x6 zoom and some have the x2.3 digital zoom on top of that.

Thanks Fred....they certainly were alive and kicking on the night and played for a whole two hour set.

It is unlikely that anyone would tackle a 17st tatooed "metal head" I suppose. Although resident in Cork for more than a few years...alas...I am just a "plastic paddy" so can't claim any Rebel status. See ya round Pana sometime...

No Fred. I watched our stuffing on TV. I'm more of a hurling fanatic!

with your camera. It makes these guys look real old. Oh, wait, they are old. My mistake. Great shots of a great band...well the two of them that are left anyway.
