Hello,

I just ordered an FX07 from onecall for $200 as a pocket camera to take anywhere. I have the TZ3 but don't plan to take it with me everyday.

I thought the price of the 07 was pretty good now. However, I hear conflicting reviews on how bad or good it is. If it's nearly identical to the TZ3's quality, I don't think it will be that bad....I know they both share the venus III imaging engine. Apart from that, I don't know if there is any major differences in the imaging processing equipment of the camera. The 28mm is really great, that is why I bought it instead of a Canon SD1000.

Is the FX07 maligned too much, or can I expect to probably return it?

Thanks for any insight....

I like it. But I never use it at higher ISOs. I shouldn't think you will need to return it. I have taken hand held shots indoors and unless excessively datk the photos are quite nice.

I bought a rose colored FX-7 two months ago (I claimed it was my wife's birthday present) as an alternative to lugging around a Nikon D-70 and several lenses. It's been to London, Kuala Lumpur, and just got back from a tour of Australia. Is it a D-70 ? No. Do I love it. Yes. Am I amazed? Absolutely!

In my opinion it is unfairly maligned. At ISO 100 it takes great photos given what it is: small and inexpensive. Even indoors, if you are taking snapshots or screen size images, it takes a decent photo. I like the sharp images, lifelike colors and solid build. Recognize that small cameras are tough to hold still but the IS must work well because most photos I take outdoors are sharp. When you see the effects of processing in low light photos, its tolerable. Not everybody looks at pixels and that is not what this camera was built for.

Much to my surprise I have used the movie mode--I mean what choice do you have when you are petting a real live Koala? Is it HDTV? No. But memorable and quite stunning for such a small camera.

And it is small, cute, lovable, and attracts lots of questions. Enjoy.
