TIFF

I shot some test shots in TIFF and loaded them into AcdSee. I was surprised to find THM files sitting next to the TIFF files. Why is that. In previous digicams I've owned this has never happened. I would see only the tiff file.BTW, RAW is off.-- http://www.pbase.com/louverruto/root

Those are thumbnails for the E10/20 to display the image. It will do this also for the RAW images.

It would probably take the processor on the camera too long to display a 7MB to 11MB file.

Of course my answer is only a guess as to why this is.

THM files are used by the E series for viewing on the LCD. They are THuMbnails...

I have an E-10 with 1.20 firmware and don't get thumbnail (THM) files when using the TIFF format. Was this added to the later firmware for the E-10, or is it only on the E-20?

Funny you should mention that. I had the new firmware,1.33, added last week to my E10. I never shot in TIFF until today so I don't know the answer to your question. But it's an interesting one.
