From popflash!

An upgrade from my Kodak v570 (it broke 6 months in)... I hope this camera won't break on me!

I wish Popflash wasn't located in California... I had to pay $20 in taxes for the camera!

I also noticed that there are physical scratches and small dents on the camera. I had been told that the "demo" camera sold was used by the owner to take several pictures, and did not know that the camera would also come with physical these blemishes. The camera also came with a miniscule scratch on the LCD screen, and there are dust particles on the lens the first time I turned the camera on.

Something happened to the camera near the bottom front edge, and there is a dent on the battery cover, the metal parts are not flush (dents).

Nitpicky? Maybe, but I bought the camera with a certain level of expectation and excitement, based on what I was told when I was shopping for the right camera.

I wish I had been given all the information necessary when I was making my decision.

Sounds like it has already been dropped, I would send it straight back. I don't have anything like that damage on my R4 after 10000 images and a year of use.

Would sending it back for a replacement work? The website no longer has any R6 Demos for sale, and the new ones' prices have been raised.

I also noticed that the LCD screen is not centered, and it shifted to the left a few milimeters. I'm getting more annoyed as I inspect the camera, because I find more and more faults.

I was told that the difference between a demo and a new one is that the demo has been used for taking several photos by the popflash owner. I uploaded one test shot onto my laptop and the very first pic was titled RIMG0001. Now, I don't know if resetting the number of photos is possible, but if not then why is the photo count beginning at 1?

I just feel disappointed. Yes, I did pay less for the demo camera, but it's still $300+, and I was not informed about the physical blemishes. What drives me insane as well is that lone dead pixel.

The you mean the LCD image is shifted a few mm to the left or the protected cover plastic. There is a recent thread on this forum somewhere about the LCD cover moving freely on the R6. Dead pixels on the LCD don't mattr much, but how is the image, is it sharp right accross. Sometimes misaligned ones may have the left or right side of the image soft or out of focus.

I suppose you don't expect a demo at a lower price to be perfect, otherwise why would anyone buy a new one. So long as it produces good images is what matters.

Took some photos today during a BBQ.

Fantastic! The quality is so much better compared to my kodak v570!

Despite the physical blemishes, the camera's IQ is really great.

That's good to hear. The R series photos continue to surprise, especially when you get them printed.

Great. Guess that's the point with refurbs. They might look a little under the weather, but work just as great as the factory fresh ones.
So, enjoy, shoot, and share here :-)
