I know it's in the noise compared to the cost of a digi-SLR & lenses, but I object to paying $20-$30 for a piece of plastic to velcro onto my flash to act as a bounce card!

So I decided to make my own using a piece of stiff, but flexible white plastic such as you see on some ultra-slim 3-ring binders (probably made from polypropylene).

I couldn't actually find the proper 3-ring binder when I wanted one (though I've seen them before) so I ended up getting a (probably even cheaper) "Oxford 57444 (white) Viewfolio Pocket Portfolio" from Staples for $1.80

I made a template out of paper (took a couple of tries to get the "wings" & folds at the correct angles) and then cut out the plastic using the final template. I scored the fold lines with the back of the Stanley-knife I used to cut the plastic, and with a couple of pieces of sticky-back velcro, Bob's your Uncle...

There's enough plastic in one 'portfolio' to make at least two bouncers, so you can make one for a friend - or have some spare if your first doesn't work out!

I have a .gif of the template for my Canon 420EX that I can mail if anyone wants it.

The cover from a white reporters notebook and a couple of rubberbands works like a charm.

I can't even begin to count the number of times I've used this combo on an assignment.

My 2¢ (which is about what this cost)
