Nikon Challenge # 15 - Tell me a story

This was my son's first visit to Fenway Park to see the Home team!!! The story in this one is that there was a rain delay of over 1 hour. I think he looks so pensive in this photo. All the excitement bottled up for the start of the game...whenever that will be.

what a great and imaginative shot, my wife and daughter LOVE it. It is a very long story :)
BTW ... why ISO 800 & f13 for a studio shot?
Thanks for sharing!

Hehehe, thanks for the comment Michael. :) One of the reasons I like it is because it is a timeless idea. Almost anyone, anwhere, at any time could relate. I also like the paradox between the "happy" gummi bears, something that usually makes people smile, and the tense, fearful, lonely emotions they can evoke in this situation.

As for the settings, ISO 800 was a mistake (!) and f13 was for depth of field. I was shooting at 180mm from about five feet away. :) Now the question becomes, why the heck 180mm??? ;) I don't know. I just really like my 180mm lens. :)

Thanks again!
Travis

I took this shot this past Christmas. It was a couple of days before the 25th and I just couldn't wait. I saw this technique somewhere in this forum, where you zoom in/out while taking a long exposure. Unfortunately, I didn't have a tripod (yet) so this was taken on a table top.

Nikon D50 w/ 18-55
Focal length: started at 18 and went to 55 (or vice versa ... can't remember)
Shutter: 15 seconds
Aperture: f\36

Came across this scene while out taking fall foliage shots. Nobody was around, and I have no idea what the story is about how the ladder and crutch got propped up there. But the picture tells its own story (subject to lots of interpretation!). Sorry, no particulars other than I used a D70 and I believe I had the 50mm 1.4 mounted.

On a train in Perth, Scotland (I believe), an old man has a quick snooze before his arrival. It looks like he had a long day...
