real EN-EL1 vs unreal En-EL1 Batteries???

Here had already found the unreal En-EL1 Batteries for
Nikon CoolPix in Taiwan local marketing.

Does anybody also find this unreal EN-EL1 Battery in your
country?

Non-nikon (unreal) batteries had been found in the Asia Pacific
(Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Tokyo...)

So please note this issue when you buy new Nikon batteries.
maybe you get a non-nikon batteries...

Thanks for the news, Vietnam would be very vulnerable to this kind of unreal En-EL1. Hanoi as such is full of fake stuff, from Rado watches to Sony WEGAs. I will keep my battery as reference (if what I got was real).

Please note that unreal (non-nikon) batteries :
1. have not plastic box to protect batteries when you take out from paper
box.
2. the enclosed handbook paper is not good..
3. unreal nikon batteries are 650mAh, not 680mAh
4. ....

I just received 2 extra Nikon batteries from B&H Photo for my Coolpix 5000. The original EN-EL 1 that came with the camera showed 680 mAh and has a small indentation on top to help with removal from the charger.

The replacement Nikon battery only has 650 mAh and is missing the samll indentation. It appears that Nikon has different versions of their EN-EL 1 battery out there.

The batteries pictured in the original post are both 650 mAh, so thats not much help.

680mah is 100% true battery from Nikon.

But Nikon also product a 650mah battery and issued in marketing.

But now Nikon 650mah batteries had found unreal product in the marketing. So when you buy a new Nikon battery, please double
check it. Otherwise you will taking a unreal/bad battery back to home: )

The battery that came with my CF995 was marked 650mah. The extra battery I bought from B&H were also marked 650mah. The only visual difference I can see is that there are no numbers branded onto the casing. So it seems its the real mccoy.

But if they are fakes, it is still a battery and will do the same job but maybe not as well. Right? As long as they don't explore inside my camera its not a big issue.--MoMan

Same here. The battery that came with my CP995 is only 650mah. It has no numbers stamped on the back but does have "1A24" lightly stamped under the Li-ion logo. I think one way to tell the fake from the real ones is that logo. On the fake, the logo is fatter and not of the same fine scale as the original. I've got to believe that Nikon is not supplying fake batteries with new cameras.

I also had bought the fake Sony FM-50 battery, you know the Sony Packing are "too good to be fake" but they did, I just wonder the counterfeit of simple packing of Canon, JVC (if any) ...are look "better" the real ones. Maybe for non-frequent users just buy some 2CR5 from wholesale market. I have bought 2 generic 750mAh EN-EN1 and charger from sterlingtek.com for my CP885. It said the battery is 15% more than original but I can flash 200 shot more (total 500+shot) than the old ones. The label of the battery are not always true i think it is because the drain of battery and charger is different. But I love that charger that can autoswitch bewteen 110v to 220v that solve the problem of trip to Europe.
