Like Porsche they either weren't very good at it or they didn't make money because neither make them now, they know their strengths as does Samsung.I think what he meant was that Lambourghini already MAKE tractors!
I would be extremely surprised if Samsung could even knock out a decent 4/3 sensor, they are specialists in producing memory and system LSI, I wouldn't go to them or Sony for IGBT-based power assemblies either.Samsung already make sensors. If they had a plan a few years ago to
design and build a sensor it would be about ready to go by now.

Yes I was well aware of these but scaling up sensors is not a simple matter or they would have done it. They are currently busy designing the World's Smallest CMOS Image Sensors:Samsung have already produced several (smaller) CMOS sensors... the
latest being:

So they know how to do it, of course those were all smaller, but
still, it's not something totally new to them.
But Lamborghini makes the (incredible!) engines for most of the boats in the highly exclusive off shore boat racing world series.Like Porsche they either weren't very good at it or they didn'tI think what he meant was that Lambourghini already MAKE tractors!

Really? Are you sure?Like Porsche they either weren't very good at it or they didn'tI think what he meant was that Lambourghini already MAKE tractors!

So how long did it take them to go from not making LCD TV panels at all to taking over as the largest producer? You think CCDs are hard?I would be extremely surprised if Samsung could even knock out aSamsung already make sensors. If they had a plan a few years ago to

Yes they do. They are not producing large format sensors however. Tere are quite a few of third party manufacturers coming out of the woodwork, with some interesting technologies up their sleeves.Doesn't Sharp also make sensors?
thanks

Samsung semiconductor has three major business units - memory, logic and TFT-LCD, that is their focus.Btw, your link talks about the same sensor my link does, and the
second says: ""The CMOS sensor is one of the five new innovations
that Samsung plans to focus on as part of its competitive marketing
strategy."
Obviously not, lovely motor Gov. ;-)Really? Are you sure?Like Porsche they either weren't very good at it or they didn'tI think what he meant was that Lambourghini already MAKE tractors!

LCD has been one of their three major semiconductor business focus for some time. Jan 2001: SAMSUNG Electronics ranked the world's first in TFT-LCD production for third consecutive year.So how long did it take them to go from not making LCD TV panels at
all to taking over as the largest producer? You think CCDs are hard?
Can you be more specific please? There is some unofficial information that Pentax can use also not
Sony sensor
