I thought this might be of interest to Z612 owners. I don't actually own this attachment "yet" but I can't wait to see how it functions. The owner claims it does work really well. Perhaps there is light at the end of the tunnel.

i have one of these for my p712 and it also works a treat.
Good to know since I'm getting this but haven't received it yet. I am also getting some other lenses and I will be posting samples on here when all has been received.

Uh folks. That lens hood is attached incorrectly. It is 90º over or under rotated. The short petals should be at the sides and long petals top and bottom.

Uh it's screwed on loosely just for show... geesh... :-) Some people on here are way to serious. You remind me of a friend of mine who is also a Smith. Way to critical... Thanks for telling me I think. I'll know to make the adjustment once I receive it.

Thanks,
James

I don't think that Acsmith was being critical, just trying to offer some helpful info. You want critical? Try posting some of your Z612 pics over at one of the DSLR forums....

Anyways, does this hood have front threads, so you can mount ND filters, etc.? Just curious, I have the Kodak P850 lens adapter with a Hoya UV filter (55mm). Wondering if you can mount larger diameter filters inside of this hood (ie 58mm).

I wasn't trying to start anything here with anyone. But rightfully I just felt I was supposed to be defending myself. It just seems every time I present something here it's never right. I look for people's opinion's, not to be dismissed for something I don't completely understand. Again I'm sorry Acsmith...

The hood is actually screwed on a 58mm adapter so you can mount larger diameter filters.. FYI refer to the link below. This is black but mine is gray which matches the Z612.

I should be receiving this next week along with some other lenses. I will be posting my results with samples. I'm just trying to improve upon what is already a good thing, which is the Z612. I sort of wished I had held off a little longer for the Z712. Oh well I still believe I made a good purchase :-)
