New S5

Hi there,

Just a quick question, where are you guys purchasing you S5 I have been looking at Best Buy and they do not have it nor do they have any idea when they are going to have it. I called Canon and they said they started shipping to dealers beginning of June. Thanks

I'll probably get it online. I bought my S3 last year from Target. I am waiting until the review for the S5, as I currently own the S3. I am thinking of getting the S5 or I may just go for the Canon Rebel, depending on the review. I am interested in bird photography so the SLR will be much more costly (body + Canon 100-400 mm IS lens = $1,800). I am not sure if this SLR combo will be significantly better than the S5.

Thanks, I am wondering how as a new camera user and I love new technology, I am a point and shoot fan, however I want to learn slowly, I wonder how in an expert opinion the Sony H9 and the S5 compare.

Just got mine from BestBuy yesterday. The helpful girl told me they did not have it in stock, but a check of their computer found it. Turned out it was on their loading dock, they had 7. Many others have gotten it from BestBuy. I'd tried again if I were you, or call a different BestBuy.

I just asked the guy if they had them in stock and he said yes but werent supposed to sell them until tomorrow. He called a manger over and he told him he could sell me one.

Does anyone know of any online dealers who have this camera in stock? My Dad is briefly visiting the US next week and is keen to take advantage of the weak dollar!

I am not sure, but it has to be soon.......Blake which part of the country is your Best Buy I will be up in Indiana, Mi this week maybe I will be in luck I would love to find the S5.

I played with it at Best Buy a few days ago. Just ask them. It might not be on display yet but they do have them.

I was just at our Best Buy and they had it on display.

Everything I have seen makes me trust the creator for what I have not seen.

I bought one at BB this morning in Austin, Texas. The sales person was actually pretty knowledgeable. He said that they just put the S5 on display yesterday at this particular store.

Are all you Best Buyers using the 10%-off coupon they've got on their website, that expires tomorrow night? I used mine yesterday and took a printout of the CC page for their sale of SanDisk Ultra II 2-GB SD cards for $25. BB price-matched it and I got two of them. BB wanted $35. for them. If you can't find the 10%-off coupon, a link to it is on the thread of a few days ago, titled, "S5 at Best Buy". They've treated me pretty well. Just recently, I returned an H9 after 13 days and they gave me a full refund, including some accessories I'd opened and used. If BB doesn't have the S5 on their website yet, call your local store and if they say they don't have it, ask them to double-check by asking their dept. manager.
