Best NB2LH Battery ??

It amazes me how may people will risk a $300 to $1,000 cameras to save a buck or two on batteries. How many notebook computer overheating problems existed even with Sony batteries. The average Chinese garage lacks a bit of credibility.
I own a G7 and want an additional battry - which is best?

Not just the off-brands that have problems, Even big American companies like Apple, etc. have run into battery problems. So go figure.

Bob,

I was not for a minute suggesting I want a cheap battery - I was really, I suppose, just asking if there is an alternative to the canon that actually gives better performance.

Money is no object. For me, performance is everything.

I bought 3 original Canon batteries (also NB-2LH for S30) and all of them drain now too fast after only a year or so.

So I then decided to finally buy a cheap one from Energizer at Amazon. So far the battery outperformed the Canon easily and I already own it for a year.

There are probably worse non-Canon batteries, but the Canon without doubt are overpriced and you can find equivalent much cheaper ones.

I'm not concerned about overheating, this isn't a duo core CPU:-).

Canon, like every other company that looks for deals, outsources for their batteries. Yes, even to that Chinese garage shop, if necessary. So the quality of Canon batteries is variable from time to time. One thing in large companies favor, however, is that they scrutinize the shops with an eye with better QC than the companies like Sterlingtek and Battery Barn. But we know how good Canon QC has been lately.

Although I've never used Sterlingtek, they are highly regarded by many forum users and in some cases have even outlasted Canon's. Their composition is probably no different than the ones with Canon printed on them and because of that are less expensive, not necessarily a cheaper grade.
