Coolpix 775???

I'm trying to decide between the Nikon Coolpix 775 and the new Minolta Dimage X camera. Which one to buy? I like the video and voice memo features on the Dimage X but don't know if I will like the quality of the picture. I am just a point and shoot type photographer. I like the smallness of the Dimage too but I also like the things people have said about the Coolpix 775. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I wouldn't trust the minolta. You can't go wrong w/ Nikon.. plus, you can do a lot of good things w/ that little 775. It's a great camera. I don't like the look of the X either. It's a matter of taste, but the matter of quality, Nikon wins.

I agree 100%. Minolta simply can't compare with the lens in the 775. It is the right camera for you, articualrly since you describe yourslef as a "point and shoot" type of photographer. Most of my friends and family are in that some category, and I reccommend the 775 to all of them.

I am impressed with my 775. The images it produces are great, and the macro capabilities are astounding. The camera is so small, I can put it in a shirt pocket easily. I like the Best Shot Selector mode and the Program modes that make this a true Point and Shoot. I've used the 775's video mode, it's not what I bought the camera for. I've got a video camera for capturing video with sound.

I was helping a friend install irfanview in his computer yesterday and got a chance to see images from the 775. They were fabulous...much better than those I get from my Canon S10 which I use for quick pet photography when I don't want to drag out my 990. The color and sharpness were right on.

I also own a 775 and I am very happy with mine. It is my first digicam
and while it is point and shoot, it does have enough settings and modes
to be able to learn. Macros are wonderful, as with most Nikons, and
the colors are vivid. I use more hi sharp tho, rather than auto, as I
find auto too soft
