I think part of the issue is ISO 1600 on the sony appears to be ISO 2000........! All the other ISO's are not what they say too.....that wont explain all the noise.......but its part of the problem.I have to agree here , in further testing, the A100 looks like thethat you dont have any room for error.......and I get better
results off the 6mp KM I have (at high ISO that is)
noisiest APS-C at ISO800 and above, even about 1/2 - 1/3 of a stop
noisier than the R1 !! - about a stop noisier than the D80 and 2/3
of a stop noisier than the noisy D2X (All checked in RAW) .... My
thought was that its because the sensor is on an Antishake platform
and can't be cooled properly (10Mp CCD needs more cooling?) but
it's probably just cheap amplifiers to keep costs down - Pentax's
AS doesn't really do much except make funy noises in the K100,
dunno about the K10D but the Sonys works pretty well ..
Yeah that is odd really.............not a dealbreaker....but I do use the ISO button a lot on the KM........Anyway - it's a damn good camera, this is the only real flaw in the
slaw (why no ISO button is a mystery - same for the Pentax K100 and
the D40)
7D is great.......blackframe.....no hassle here...(yet!)...though this is repairable for no charge out of warranty also (see KM website)It's funny really but I'm quite hankering after trying a used KM
7D, I always liked the body of that camera a lot and the IQ should
be the same as a D50, K100 or the KM 5D in RAW - the only killer of
course is Blackframe and repairs etc.
Response from the guy whose ideas about the A100 I dared to correct:I wasn't going to respond to the last post but one as it was
clearly becoming a pointless task but I'm not sure who the 'Fan boy
behaviour' line in your post is aimed at. If it was me, I am very
disappointed as I was only trying to correct an earlier response
that I knew to be wide of the mark so that you could make a better
informed decision.
I don't own an A100 nor am I a fan boy of any brand, I find loyalty
to a particular brand a strange practice. I simply have experience
of using the A100 (and it's predecessor the KM 5D) and can
therefore speak from that point of view. I don't think that any
attempt was made to say that the camera was perfect, just that the
issues mentioned were exaggerated in their seriousness (for
whatever reason). Correcting points that I know to be wrong doesn't
show allegiance to anything except an interest in accuracy.
When you get a response to your questions, would you rather they
were accurate or inaccurate? Perhaps it just isn't worth trying to
help people if this is the way that the help is received.
Again, the original poster solicited "thoughts", "experiences" and "remarks" about two specific cameras. I have given my thoughts, experiences, and remarks about these cameras, as did quite a few others. However, you seem to have taken it upon yourself to pronouce my thoughts, experiences, and remarks to be wrong, inaccurate, exaggerated, etc. You also directly "called me out", demanding multiple > times that I explain my comments about the A100 and my experiences > with it using a display model.
When you directly attack other posters opinions or comments (even with well worded criticisms or "corrections"), you do come across as a fanboy. Directly focussing only on me like you did makes you look like an overly offensive fanboy with an agenda.
If you do not agree with me or others in this thread, a simple, "I have not had the same experiences with the Sony A100..." would have > sufficed, and then you could've continued to further explain your > perspective. No one likes to be told that their opinion or experiences are > wrong. It can be offensive enough when it's implied by someone posting > completely different experiences and opinoins as yours, but when you > blatantly tell another forum member they're wrong or demand they > justify their opinion, then you've taken it WAY too far.
What's the point?Again, no one has to justify their opinion to you. If the original poster ends up buying the Pentax, are you going to insist that he made a horrible decision and then demand that he come back to the thread and completely explain his poor purchasing decisions?
No...."FanBoy" would be what the current religion in power users to discount the opinions of those unbelievers. Fanboy is most often use to put down happy owners or non Conika cameras.. or when someone dares to have an opinion that a Conika does not compare with other cameras in its class. In religion a fanboy is a fanatic not a heretic. A heretic would
be a hater in current jargon.
At the risk of starting a theological discussion and hijacking the thread...In religion a fanboy is a fanatic not a heretic. A heretic would
be a hater in current jargon.
You right the Guy is a troll who likes stirring the pot.. or some issues..Thanks for the support Ken, time to forget about it now I think. ;-)
