sony 100mm!

Interesting looking rock shapes in the water (no. 2), they look a bit like stromatolites and that would imply a geologic age of about three billion years, so maybe it's just a coincidence, something left behind by glaciation and wave action etc.
mysterious looking just the same.

I wish that was the case but that photo was taken in barbados, which was a tropical coral island formed only a few hundred million years ago ... so the rocks I don't think are a result of glacial erosion... maybe jus wave and wind erosion as it is on the atlantic side of the island...

I too have this lens, although it is the Minolta one. At this point, I don't think there is much difference. I agree that it is a marvelous lens. I appreciate your photos, especially the close-ups of the violets. THe selection of these photos certainly demonstrates the range of the lens.

I know, i think its an under valued lens. a lot of p'ple opt. more for the zooms such as the CZ 16-80 which i think is highly over-rated, when they would be way better served with the 100mm and the kit lens and then gettin a faster more focused zoom wide angle later down the road.

hope we can convince some others

Can you post a crop of a focused area from the unprocessed original ?

...the latest version of it before Sony took over. It's a marvellous lens and can be used for a lot more than just macro...I liked your shots, here are some of my own:

The Tamron 90 has long been on my list of lenses to purchase.

Unfortunately the Sony 100 macro retails at NZ$1600 whereas I can pick up a Tamron 90 for NZ$690.

There's no way I could justify that kind of price difference and we don't seem to have much of quality used lens market here that I could get a second hand Minolta version.
very nice.
I wish I could have stretched to that lens instead of the Tamron 90
DI but alas.....
Still the Tamron is very good, so I'm happy...honest ;-)
