Just picked up my 707 and after taking a few pictures, I noticed it doesn't actually take the shot until about 5 seconds after the button is pressed. Most all of my shooting will be action shots of race cars. Delay is definitely a big no-no. Tell me I'm just doing something wrong so I don't have to return it. Thanks

If you want fast reaction from the camera, you should get out of auto everything. That is what takes the camera so long to figure all that stuff out before the shot. To get the fastest reaction:
manual focus
set the ISO
set the white balance
set the camera in maunal exposure
half press the shutter and wait for the shot.

As soon as the shutter release is pushed the rest of the way down you will have a very fast capture.--Shay - My Sony F707 Gallery: http://shaystephens.com/portfolio.asp

There should be almost no delay between the focus beep (button halfway pressed) and full press of the shutter button. Depending upon conditions, it may take a couple of seconds to auto-focus. Also, if the flash is being used it won't allow another shutter release until the flash is fully re-charged (several seconds). When shooting auto racing you may be able to pre-focus, holding the button halfway down until the right shot comes into place, then releasing the shutter. Or try manual focus. At any rate it will take some practice.
