Trackpad Issues

So I got my refurb 17 MBP yesterday (it came with the retail box and no scratches and nicely sealed) and I noticed the trackpad stops sometimes. I thought it was just me but my wife also noticed it. Instead of being smooth it lags sometimes. I had to use my Microsoft (hehe) optical mouse to get a smooth cursor travel. Anyone have this problem? Thanks

Mine seems to go to sleep sometimes. Have to track ferociously to get it moving again. Do you have AppleCare with a refurbished MacBook?

seriously,

AppleCare is amazing. They will fix anything short of liquid damage or being dropped. If there's an Apple store near you, go to the apple.com/retail and find it's page, then make an appointment with the Genius Bar and they'll look at it for free and send it away to be fixed, for free.

check mouse prefs to see if the "ignore accidental input" option for the trackpad is on. if so, try turning it off and see if this clears up the problem.

if it does, you will most likely have the problem of accidental input.

i always had this setting turned on on my old Powerbook G4, but my new MacBook seems to have a delay in re-enabling the trackpad after picking up accidental input. quite annoying!

Finger oils will sometimes cause this. Spray a tiny bit of Windex on a paper towel and then use that to wipe down the trackpad. Don't spray the windex directly onto your Mac or right next to it.

This usually clears up wonky trackpad problems for me.

I'd go into the system preferences and check the settings for the tracpad. You may find that noodling around with those will solve this. Also there are some cool tracpad settings that are turned off by default like two finger tap for right click and single finger tap for click. I turned those on and my tracpad is much more useful.

Thanks for the suggestion guys

I tried that option but it was still doing it so I called apple and we did a PRAM dump or something like that. But it's still doing it so I have to go to an apple store to have it checked. The agent said that if they can't fix it they'll replace it... cool :)
