Panasonic FZ8 - Killer Deal For The Price

I have been in the superzoom market for a month or so now and have tried several cameras, including the Kodak Z612, the Fuji S700, the Sony H2 and now the Panasonic FZ8. I am trying to keep the cost 300.00 or below.

From what I can tell, the FZ8 is definitely the best one of this group. The main difference in the Panasonic to me is that it nails the proper exposure 98% of the time - even in auto mode. All the others have problems with exposure. Plus the shot to shot time of the FZ8 is fast. It has RAW and the others do not. For the price the FZ8 is at now (around 269.00 on the web), it is a true steal if you ask me.

I've had my Fz8 a couple of weeks now and I am really happy with it. I have never had a zoom before and I am like a kid at christmas with a new toy. I'm snapping at everything in sight. I haven't achieved 98% on exposure but some of the shooting conditions have been really tough, poor light, moving action etc..

Must say I took it out Sunday and it was sunny all day and I hardly had a bad shot exposure wise. The capabilities of the camera are still way above mine though!!

I have had an FZ8 for a couple of months and the results are excellent if you stick to 100 ISO. For my purposes, higher than that creates too much noise. I shoot RAW only and the record times on my Sandisk Ultra II cards are excellent. The flash is a little anemic but no worse than most of these small cameras. Overall I am very happy with this camera that I bought for travel since I got tired of dragging my DSLR with additional lenses along on trips. It is also the most user friendly camera I have tried in a long time with very intuitive controls and menus.

HI I bought a brand new fz8 including a 2gb memory card for £157.00 plus £11 delivery.

This was bought from ebay, they are brand new with a 12 months warranty.

The seller has got 225000 feedback at 97% so I don't think you will have any problems.

I have bought 2 cameras from then in the last month with no problems at all.

These could be usa cameras ?, I bought several cameras last year no uk warranty no return service and item uk spec plugs ect all wrong . USA cameras are much cheaper and the weak $$$ but if you worry about afte rservice you might check because i had a nightmare getting my money back faulty camera and no reply to many many e mail ended up ringing USA over ten times andno i was not having a nice day , so BEWARE things might be different with these usa sourced people they have high volume feed back ( but look again mant negatives as well .)

HI you are probably correct but the cameras are sent from the uk so there is a uk base.

They offer a 12 warranty, you pays your money and takes your choice.

The point that I was trying to make is that you can buy this excellent camera is cheaper than £269.00.

I have had a FZ5 for a couple of years. I am handing it down to my son and am going to pick up an FZ8. Does anyone know if the lenses you can buy for them are worth it? Do they work well. I saw a wide angle and a 2x and 3x magnifier.

anyone have any higher ISO pics with the FZ8 that I could see to make a decison on whether to go with it or the FZ7????

I'm trying to find it 'locally' for that price! I just returned a faulty FZ7 that cost $260.....so I think I'm gonna hold out for the FZ8 price to drop at a local C City or B Buy, Makes it easier to return it if there's any problems....I had a bad experience with Prestigecamera.com and would not order from them again! live and learn!
