So, how many Pentax users in the NW (US)?

About two hours North of Seattle, K10D, a veriaty of lenses from 10-20 to the BIGMA and a few other zooms in between plus a couple of primes, To many locations to note, no on film.

Have a great day

John

I heard the other day that Portland driver are considered the most
courteous in the US - are they really? or are they like the
Seattle-Tacoma drivers that came in third in the same poll,
passive-aggressive types that would not dare use the horn, but also
won't let anybody merge in front of them, or my favorite, stop to
merge in the first 100 feet of a freeway on-ramp leaving 500 feet
of open merging lane in front them.
That poll didn't surprise me. Portland area drivers (really, anywhere in Oregon) are pretty nice IMO. But I'm sure I could find drivers here with the bad habits you mentioned.

Of course traffic in Portland is nothing compared to Seattle. The Seattle metro area is really big (not just population, but in the number of square miles.) So that compounds travel times. If you stuck a Portlander in Seattle traffic, they'd go out of their gourd too and start developing dysfunctional driving behaviors.

Ok so not Mid-West... but stuck in the middle.

I work about 2 miles from Lake Erie (Cleveland) at Dodd Camera main branch (www.doddcamera.com). Feel free to stop in and chat (and see my 20x30 poster from a K10D jpg. hanging on the wall)

Where do you live in the NW?
I live on an island in the southern Puget Sound
What are your favorite local shops?

I mostly buy new stuff via the Internet, so my retail focus is on good quality used equipment. I love Pentax DSLRs because they broaden the universe of usable lenses so greatly. Fave funky old style camera stores include the Camera Clinic and Tacoma's The Camera Shop. There is an interesting repair shop in the U district in Seattle, Pacific Camera, that has some interesting stuff, plus the owner is fun to chat with.
What's your favorite local spot to take pics?
Tacoma architecture and street scenes. The Arboreteum in Seattle. Eastern Washington scablands during spring wildflower season is amazing. Down the street where the sun sets over the Sound and the Olympic mountains. Up the other street where the sun rises over Mt. Rainier and the Cascade mountains.
Which Pentax SLR do you use?
DS and Super Program
Do you still use film?
My film shooting is only 15% and is primarily with a classic Olympus XA that has a remarkably sharp, contrasty 35mm lens and an ideal size for jacket pockets. Somtimes the Super Program. I get these scanned.

Hello to all, thanks for the messages from you northwesterners, even from Ohio! Must be NW Ohio!

It's good to hear so many comments from such friendly people. This is the first time I've ever started a thread. I've enjoyed reading the responses.

To answer my own questions, I have an *istD and a Canon S-30, my favorite shops are Kenmore Camera, sometimes snooty Glazers, CameraTechs and ****'s in Burien. Online, B&H. Some of my favorite areas to take photos is the Pacific Ocean anywhere on the west coast, the high desert, and the Hoh Rain Forest. I still use film, with a Pentax Super Program, a Mamiya Sekor DTL (really old!)and a Rolleicord Vb (even older yet!).

Best wishes to all of you, regards.

Lakewood, about 35 miles south of Seattle. We have a great local shop called Robi's. I like to toss some business their way every few months even though online is often cheaper, its just great doing business face-to-face with folks who actually know their stuff.

havent shot 1 film since bought a Canon Pro90 IS (my first digital camera) and don't expect to. Do they still make film ?
