Canon Powershot letters...(A, G and S)

Does these letters mean anything or are they just a letter to indicate the different model series.

Anyone who knows?

And to add to your question; how come the TX1 was so-called? What does it have in common with the old TX?

A = Awesome
S = Superb
G = Great
TX = Totally eXperimental (or eXtraordinary)
