How many pros changed to Canon from Nikon?

The usual reasons:
TS-24, TS-45, TS-90 (my everyday studio lens)
24F1.4, 35F1.4, 50F1.4, 85F1.2 ll, 135F2, 70-210F2,8 IS
The ultra clean files up to 1250 ISO
DPP pro and Camera Capture are free.

The quality of my D1s mark ll files rival my Phase One P25 files up to A4 print size with much faster workflow.
The upgrade path is guaranteed to larger file size and live-view.

Nikons were stolen.

One of my partners, a graphic cdesigner, decided to open a photo operation in his design studio.

We chose a 20D for him, based on price, quality at the time.

When I bought a D-SLR a year later, I got a Canon so I could share is lenses, flash, etc.

using the S5 now, which is excellent, and am going to give Nikon until the end of this year. If they don't have FF by then, I'll make the switch before the next event season begins.

I don't like the Canon ergonomics and find operation counter intuitive, but there are great primes and files look very nice. I'd probably be there now if the Fuji S5 hadn't come out just in time. Again, really great files on this S5; the camera is quirky, but files are like shooting film again.

Really love your work Cap. I am not worthy. I'd been planning to get the S5, then decided on the 5D. You've got me reconsidering again. Is the S5 good enough for DPS?

If I was doing my work with no flash in sometimes- reduced light, I would use Canon...However, I use mostly flash, and find that the Nikon is better at flash metering, especially when using multible flashes, and changing the camera setting without going through menues tilts towards Nikon, too...I already have my order in for the FF coming out later this year.

What Nikon full frame coming out later this year?

Swiss Chris summed it up for me.

I switched from Nikon when they were stuck at 6Mp and Canon had the 18Mp 1DSII. Used it for a year, but never liked the lenses, or specifically my main workhorse lens, the 24-70/2.8. I tried three of them and never found one that was consistently sharp. The Canon ergonomics never really worked for me, either.

When Nikon's D2x came out, I compared it in a side by side test to the Canon, and switched back to Nikon, happily.

The Nikon sometimes gives me the impression that it has squeezed about the maximium possible number of pixels out of that size chip. And I look back at Canon files sometimes that, when they were sharp, were really nice. But the Nikons have been reliable workhorses that I have been very happy with.

Hey Cap,

I took a look at your gallery, and you've got some great stuff in there. I was curious if you would share what your processing is and how you get that tone in your BW pics?
