All shots taken from here

The 400D + 300 F4 L IS seemed to have a focus problem when using the non center focus point, many of my shots came out back focused when the AF point picked up the background rather than the player I had the dot on.

ahh, jeff weaver. i believe i have a photo of him pitching in a WS game last year...

can't you see him warming up?

i'm an idiot, i went to three playoff games (a DS, a CS, and a WS!) last year, and didn't bring the tele to either one of them because i was more focused on pounding as many beers as possible in the excitement. for this WS game i brought the sigma 10-20 only. that was a mistake. at least for the CS game i had the 28-135IS....

I'm hoping they cut Weaver before they leave Detroit and don't even let him back on the team plane.

Very funny observation- I relooked at the photo and you are correct. :)

the sad thing is that jeff weaver is one of those pitchers who really responded to the magic touch of dave duncan. that's probably why he started off so slowly then turned into an amazing pitcher. either that or he was just on fire during the post season, who knows!

and i'm not positive weaver pitched that game, but if it wasn't weaver....

wow, i can't even tell. all i can see is that it's a RHP, other than that...that's what i get for bringing the sigma 10-20

p.s. i still have my ticket stub from that game, it says "WORLD SERIES GAME 5". yes, we clinched it on the fifth game played, but if you remember, one of the st louis games was rained out. game 4. so game four was post poned until after game 5. so my game 5 ticket got me in to game 5 which was played AFTER game 4.

so in other words.... it's not as cool as it seems

Nice Shots!

Did the folks at the gate give you any gruff for bringing in a big telephoto lens?

I've been wanting to bring my 400D to a game, but was worried that they'd deny me at the gate for bringing in "professional" camera equipment without some kind of press pass.

Weaver just went on the 15 day DL. He's probably fakin' it. I
don't blame him :)
after a(nother) pathetic showing by the cardinals at san diego, the FSN post game report had a poll that said "if the mariners release jeff weaver, should the cardinals pick him up?" and i think it wasl ike 75% YES. even me and my three friends at kreigers shouted a resounding he11 yeah after that puss poor showing by kit wells.

but the sad thing is that it's not totally his fault. heck, he's probably got a better batting average than pujols does right now...

most ballparks are pretty lenient about camears, as they should be. i've herad a few stories about big lenses getting hated on, but they are few and far between. the only thing you should be worried about is any sort of camera support (monopod/tripod) because the really don't like that, for good reason. but i went to 15+ games last year, all at busch stadium (except for one road trip to KC) with my gear and have never gotten a single second look at my gear.

typically it includes a rebel XT and sigma 70-300 APO (not huge gear, but it stands out)

once i rented a 70-200 f/2.8L. nobody said a word.

on my first game last year (game AFTER home opener..!) i thought i had to "sneak" in my telephoto lens in my pocket. i was wrong, nobody cared. i saw several white telephoto lenses around the seats

i went to the game in kaufmann (KC), with my bookbag full of lenses. they check your bag to make sure you don't have any booze or guns or whatever, but they don't care if you have 6 lenses in a bag

so if you go to a ball game TAKE YOUR CAMERA!!!!!!

Thats good to know. I'll be going to a Pittsburgh game next month and wanted to bring my camera.
