Pentax k-10d......360 flash whatever.....lots of lenses....handgrip.....etc....etc....

Hey!!!!....how does a Canon G-5 get an image rating of 8.5 and The Pentax K-10d only get a rating of 7.5?

What is that about?
 
Without RAW but noisy jpeg, slow zoom and fixed lcd, the G7 got highly recommended too. For some cameras it doesn't matter how they performed, the final verdict has been decided even before the review had started. Not at all surprised.

Sometimes the price alone will determine which camera gets a better rating. I've seen it many times where the reviewer admits the only reason for a specific camera getting a better review over another is the cheaper price.
 
The same thing happens in hi-fi reviews. Price should be separate, but "value" is always somehow included. What's the point of a 0-10 scale when everything rates from 7-10?

Actually that makes me feel particularly good. I have just been hammering an idiot in a digital photo newsgroup that was shouting out that he got rid of his K10D and got a new Samsung GX-10 because "the GX-10 has noticably better Image Quality", the guy is obviously a bit silly but I think he has convinced himself that this is true.

Most of the time I ignore those ratings. I purchase the camera because I believe it is good and I checked out the IQ and functions before a decision is made.

To be honest, my friend used to work for computer magazines and he said the ratings sometimes are biased. It all depends on how much those marketing people offer to the magazine people. I am not saying there is corruption there, but there has to be favoritism.

Do not get upset if the K10D gets a low rating, believe in your judgement. I believe K10D is a much camera than the G7. I have no regret owning one of them.
