Team,

I've been shooting digital since the 10D era... I have got lot of film that I have converted into digital. I now shoot 5D (RAW only)... I'm very disapointed with my sharing and displaying skills. I share few images here and there but nothing in my collection can call itself a Portfolio.

Give I have access to PS Bridge/DPP/ZB/ I have to find a process to sort/mark/process/resize/produce images for my portfolio...

I have over 45000 images, from all sorts (weddings, portaits, studio, events, architecture, etc...)

My goal is to make one or more portfolio which has room to grow...

What the best method/process/software/hardware do you recomend.

I ask the question here since I'm shooting all RAWs now with the 5D so you may have a lot better clue than other forums.

Thank you!!!

Wow, I just saw your site.... I'm impressed... it's so ugly it's almost funny....

but to come back @ your question...

have you tried Adobe Lightroom or iView MediaPro?

Well, don't know if you see where I mentioned over 45000 images... Once I start sorting, I have to stick with the software... i.e ZB rates differently than Bridge/LR... So, what I'm looking for is some suggestions on the porcess flow you would choose given the amount of images.

also, you seen my site... do you have any good dreamweaver templates so that I can make it look better???

Either upgrade your computer or buy a new one if needed to work with the amount of images you are talking about. I don't own it, but have read the reviews on light room and it sounds like it is a good solution for work flow. Keep in mind that I'm not a pro and just a guy that likes to shoot.

I had a look at your site. And because you addressed sharing and display I will address that.

Are you looking for a site to display your images in a web gallery? If so have a look at my site http://www.photographybychris.net If it is something you like let me know and I can send you the web hosting and building info.
You can also look at my other site listed under my sig. for other ideas.

It all depends on what you want to do with your images, how much time, money and if you know HTML code.

I like your site especally the pop out menu for the portfolio... I see that you have linked images from pbase. Is there any paticular reason of doing so?

I'm not looking for HP upgrade for my computer and BTW I just built a dule core SLI tank for this work...

I've heard good things about Lightroom too... But, i'm little hesitant due to the XMP file usage. I'd like my ratings to stay with the images when i see them in other software.

So, adobe Bridge/LR are quite good in sharing information but ZB/DPP and other are not too good.

I started with pbase first-cheap and easy for me. I wanted a business site that clients could go to and made the photographybychris site through http://www.bigblackbag.com (bbb). When I started that site they did not have all the features they now have. So I linked back to my pbase site. Now that bbb has loads more features I do not need to but choose to due to the $ for site MB cost. Some clients (weddings mostly) have a few hundred images for proofing. It is cheaper to put them on pbase and link them.

I have been very happy with bigblackbag.com I do not know how to code and make my own site. They have loads of features and are easy to use for a better looking site than what I started with. You can get a free 7 day trial if you are interested. Tip before trial-read the info about image sizes for the site and prepare your images and save to a file (this will make it faster to create your site with the 7 day trial).

... than cheezy midi musac.

The front page does look quite nice, but I only saw it for a few seconds and never made it past that point. Yes, I saw the mute button, but I didn't stick around long enough to click it. All I could think is there's going to be more on the next page. Ugh!

Website musac is particularly annoying when people are surfing during a break at work, and this annoying musac starts playing, annoying everyone in the area.

Sorry, just my opinion, and it seems to be a pretty common opinion.

Your opinion is always welcome. Yes, there is a mute button for the music (which I like but not everyone does) and have heard that comment before. However it doesn't bother me. I have yet to find a site that everyone likes everything on. The music on the site is an option for both set up and viewing. Other things bother me more.

As I do not have the ability or time to create a web site of my own from scratch I really like the service and features of the site I use.

If you care to view some of my work please see the pbase site-with out music. I am learning as I go so things change with each passing day.
