I would like to hear about which carrying cases you have been using. What about the leather case from Sony (LCS-FX)? Any other suggestions?

Thanks
Steve

Steve,

I got one free at Computer City when I got my 707 for Christmas. It just fits (just right, snuggly) -Height, width & depth. It's just a cushioned box shap with a side pocket (netting) and a for real envelope-type closing pocket with a buckle on the front. Padded handle & a shoulder strap. It's not a Sony with the 707 shape but it's well cushioned. It was only 20 something if I had to pay. Also got a 32mp memory strip free. Before the price drop. It works for a few shots. Just a back-up until the 2-128mp strips get here from Amazon (maybe Monday). I like this little case. Heck, the price was right!

Sorry! The case is called a MOTION systems. Probably meant for a small video camera? Shayron

I just picked up a "Lowepro TLZ1" case at Best Buy when I got my F707. Fits nicely, cost $30, is well constructed pack nylon and doesn't say Sony on it. And yes, I'm surprised that bags now have model numbers and websites ( http://www.lowepro.com/pages/bySeries/topZoom.htm ).

I can second the use of the Lowepro TLZ1. I happened to have this case left over from use with a Contax G2 film camera, and was pleasantly surprised when the DA slipped into nicely. It is a little snug on top, but the foam padding seems to give nicely. I've found the DA fits best when the top of the camera is oriented to the front (pouch side) of the case. This case has an unpadded front zippered pouch that you can use for accessories.

I've recently purchase the custom Sony leather case. It certainly fits like a glove, and looks nice. However, I still use the Lowpro when I want a little more padding.

Both these cases won't do if you want to carry a flash, WA, lens hood, or tele-adaptor.

Bill,
where did you get the Sony F707 Case? I've been trying to find one.

Thanks

I am using the Lowepro Field and Stream AW100. Best part of this, besides the excelllent contruction, is the zipper on the top for easy access to your camera in a hurry. You can also carry lens and things and also add on separate external compartments. Definitely worth a look. I also have the Sony case on order and hope to get it around April1.

I've use the Sony leather case made for the 707 (LCS-FX)

Since I like to travel light, and have my camera on my belt, this is perfect. It only has room for a spare battery, and you can squeeze 2 memory sticks in a holder in the flap. I bought mine in the Sony store in NYC, but I see it in the Sonystyle website.

I'm using the Lowepro S&F Pouch 60AW. It's a fairly small simple bag that's just big enough for the camera and not much more. With the body twisted a bit relative to the lens, it slides right in with the grip facing up and the lens barrel at the bottom of the bag. It uses a snap closure and has a shoulder strap. A rain cover in the bottom can be pulled out when needed. Padding is minimal, but I've had the thing in freezing rain and the camera came through it fine.

I use the Pelican 1450 - it's water tight, air tight, dust proof, mold proof. Pelican also makes such a case designed for soft shell type case. In my mind, it's the best way to protect your investment, house most of the accessories, and not worry. See http://www.pelican.com

The best to you!

Follow-up, if I'm not mistaken ... Lowepro makes a hiking type case that fits inside a Pelican. With the 1450, I fit three lens filters, the lens shade, the HVL F1000 flash, memory sticks, all the cables, charging unit, etc.

I've used one for my Sony TRV900 video for a few years now and could not be more please. I personally prefer the hard shell exterior to any soft shell type case. It's not much bigger than a lightweight lunch pail.

Since I often carry both cameras, I'm thinking about a larger Pelican to carry both for traveling.

The best to you!

The LCS-FX is nice if you don't need to bring anything else along. It is also quite expensive. I was in Best Buy and picked up an "Ambico Camcorder Bag (V-4701). The price was right, the size is perfect (not too big and not too small) and it has adjustable velcro for two main pockets, plus extras for filters, memory sticks--accessories,you name it. Nice shoulder strap and carrying handle too.
