**Where's the s110 replacement?**

I read on this board that the s110 and s300 are discontinued and that many retailers no longer have them in stock. So where is the replacement?

Anyone have canon's email address so I can ask them?

Are you sure they are discontinued? Last time I checked B&H, J&R still offer them. A 4 mpx elph would be hard to resist.

Yes the S110 is NLA. But if I remember correctly, the S110 was introduced in May of last year, so we still have some hope a new model is coming.

Makes no sense to me to get rid of the Elph.
Some have reported a shortage of s110/s300. It might be a sign that
a new digital elph is coming.

Yeah, I would still keep my s110 for atleast another year before I upgrade.--Jeremy

Canon had the now discontinued s100 on the canon website even when it was discontinued. Many B&M stores sell old discontinued items that they can't sell off.

I suppose you are right about the website, but the 110 was out before the 100 stopped being advertised by Canon, and both models were still available. Since the Elph is an extremely popular concept, still going strong even in aps, it doesn't seem likely that Canon would allow such a solid markt gap, unless they consider the S300 will hold the market for now, and let the 110 fade.

I called Future Shop and asked why the S110 is no longer on their site. The sales guy said "Because they are discontinued"

From what I read the S300 is still available from Canon.

But then I could be wrong. Do some searching on the net, with the key words:

S110 discontinued

Thanks for the update, PhotoNUT. I think the s110 was a hot seller. I am puzzled that it is discontinued. I will be really surprised if canon axes it from the line up. I am crossing my fingers for a new digital elph.

It would be great if Canon comes out with a new Elph to compete against the Minolta X. If Canon implements a LCD w/ anti-reflective coating, has unlimted movies w/ decent framerate/resolution (including audio), and a few nice features (possibilities are endless), then the elph will sell like hotcakes, even if it costs $500.

I just called Canon and they told me that the S110 has not been discontinued, especially since it only came out in May of last year.

They also said that there won't be any 3 or 4mp Elphs anytime soon because to go to that size would require increasing the size of the Elph's dimensions. They suggested going with the S30 or S40.

Don't know if this helps or not....
Where's the s110 replacement?

If the s110/s300 is not discontinued, then it will be priced very close to the price reduced s30. The s30 is better deal since the pic quality is superior and is far more attractive with the lower price. Canon lowered the price on G2, s30, s40. Why didn't they lower the price on the s110/s300?

I don't know. I wish they had. I want a pocketable camera and am leaning heavily towards the S300. But then I look at the S30 and am reminded how close in price they now are. I guess it's bad for me that the S30 is too big to be pocketable, because it looks like the best deal out there right now....

Well, I gotta say, I love my S110. The thing is so small it fits in my pocket no problem, and I carry it everywhere. I had originally planned to get a S40, but decided I wanted something truly pocketable, so I got a S110 and a G2 for high-quality shots.

I figured the 2.1 megapixel resolution on the S110 was as much as Canon could get out of a camera that small -- the lens on the thing is only about 7 mm in diameter! Maybe in a few years someone will figure out how to make a higher-resolution camera in the same size, without any loss of image quality. Until then, I'm hanging on to my S110!

That is my dilema I compared them tonite, I still cannot decide!
