Scott Pro, why no issues?

You can correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought both BB & ScotPro use the same Canon Library to do the conversion.

I just did a quick speed comparision test with BB v1.2 and ScotPro v1.2.02, and the speed is pretty much the same.

RAW file: Canon D30
Converted file: 16bits-LinearTIFF
Conversion Speed: BB=24sec, ScotPro=24sec
PC: Dual P3 700MHz.

note: With both applications, I can run multiple applications to utilize 100% of my system CPU resource. Within my workflow, I devide all of my RAW files into two separate directories then run 2 sepate ScotPro applications each converting one directory. My best result at home on my Dual 1GHz PC is about 7-8 RAW images -> 16bits-LinearTIFF per minute.

When I have to do a lot of conversion (which is always the case after each event), this method is a time saving.

I do like ScotPro better because of the more user friendly interface. I also think the EV option is pretty useful.

I agree! It uses the same Canon DLLs in converting the images. I like the fact that PhotoStudio looks like PhotoDesk from Kodak.

Hello

Tanks for the answers.

I still uses Yarc (the first version) to batch convert sometimes. If I have taken 400-600 pictures, just set it to convert and forget the computer.....

Hi,

I just downloaded Photo Studio the other day. Wanted to test it out since it looks interesting and thought it might be an alternative to Breezebrowser (which I did have issues with when I tested it). I've only played with Photo Studio a bit and so far it seems to have potential. BUT, I have run into a problem already. Granted, I haven't gone through the help yet, but, when I try to open a folder as a contact sheet, the program crashes everytime. Haven't been able to open a folder yet, only individual files.

Glad you are still using Yarc (Classic). As you probably know we have a new version called YarcPlus. It offers a lot more than Yarc Classic, and the command line interface (of Classic) will return shortly. In the meantime enjoy Yarc, but I encourage you to give YarcPlus a try.--Regards,Michael Tapes http://www.YarcPlus.comhttp://www.michaeltapes.com

TN,
You mioght want to check out the latest version of Breezebrowser (1.4b)
There have been many improvments since v1.2.

Hello

Yes, have it and have tested it a little, but haven’t have the time to do something yet.
Didn’t like that I got a entry in the trash box from the installation…..

Just wondering if anyone has a solution to the problem I'm having (described below). I'd really like to see how this Photo Studio works. Still can't get it to open a folder without crashing.

Thanks,

I would like it better if it had a "next" and "previous" button so I can quickly look at a folder full of pictures.

Hello

why isn’t it any debate on this great program?

The ev function works well, it has a very nice user interface.

So, if You are using it, what do You think?

It would be nice with a compare too the “standard” Breeze.

I havent heard of anyone else having that problem. Try to write to Scott at his Message board on http://scottprofessional.com/
He usually reply pretty fast (within 12-24 hours).

By the way a new version should be coming out soon. it should be able to download from camera, and maybe also html "editor" plus some other minor changes (from what I have heard).

I also uses Scott Pro and like it a lot. Scott made a test to check which was fastest in converting (BB or ScottPro). They were very close to each other so this shouldn't be the issue to pick one from the other. Just take the one you like the best.--Anders-------- http://www.pbase.com/dna--------

Kharim,

Could you give me a little more info about what you are doing to cause the program to crash. Operating system, Processor type, Camera type, Image type ( RAW, JPG, TIF) ? I haven't had anybody report crash problems in a long time, especailly 1.2.0.0 and later.
